Indian Mother Give Birth to Conjoined Twins Sharing Nearly Every Organ

An Indian mother has given birth to conjoined twins who have two sets of hands but share one pair of legs.

The twins - a boy and girl - also share nearly every vital organ.

Their mother, Shivrajo Devi, 24, gave birth at a private clinic in a village in Buxar, Bihar, eastern India, on Wednesday evening. 

However their condition soon began to deteriorate and they were moved to Sadar Hospital in the city where medics gave them preliminary treatment in neo-natal intensive care unit.

Dr Raj Kumar Gupta, a paediatrician at Sadar Hospital, said: ‘They are fused from the waist and only one genital is visible which is of a girl.

'Even though the second genital is missing, we suspect the face of the second baby is a boy, which makes this case even more rare as conjoined twins are usually of the same gender.’

Doctors Successfully Separate Conjoined Twins in Bern, Switzerland

Doctors have successfully separated conjoined twin sisters fused at the liver and chest - the smallest pair ever to survive surgery.

Five surgeons, assisted by two nurses and six anaesthesiologists, carried out the successful, five-hour operation to separate the tiny identical twins at a hospital in Bern, Switzerland.

Maya and Lydia were born two months prematurely along with their triplet sister Kamilla in December.

They were initially stable and doctors at Inselspital hospital, Bern, had planned to allow them to settle after birth and separate them after a few months.

But after a week, their situation deteriorated dramatically: one suffering from hypertension and the other suffering from the opposite condition, known as hypotension.

A very rare condition has resulted in woman giving birth to miracle conjoined twins with two brains in the same skull. The baby appears to have to faces, attached to one neck and body.

Renee Young had been advised to terminate the pregnancy by doctors in Australia ‘because it would be looked upon by the public as a freak’.

 
But she defied the doctors because Ms Young had never terminated a pregnancy and because they had a family 'that gives us a lot of support'.

 
Now she and partner Simon Howie, from Sydney, have now welcomed the astonishing little girls – six weeks early.

And they've been given appropriate names – Faith and Hope.

The girls are the result of a rare condition known as disrosopus, where a baby is born with two faces.

Indian Mother Gives Birth To Two Headed Conjoined Twins

ABCNews:  is reporting that Conjoined twins born at a hospital in India appear to share everything below their two, separate heads, hospital officials told ABCNews.com.

“Yes this report is perfectly true that we have delivered a female baby having two heads,” Dr. Ashish Sehgal, the CEO of Cygnus JK Hindu Hospital, told ABCNews.com in an email. “She is presently alive and healthy.”

The birth occurred Wednesday morning by Caesarean section, Sehgal said.
The mother thought she was only carrying one baby because she was too poor to afford an ultrasound, according to Asia Cover Press.

The twins weighed 5.3 pounds, Sehgal said.

Conjoined Twins With 1 Liver, 1 kidney & 1 intestine born to Abuja Couple

The conjoined twins were delivered at about 7 pm on July 2, 2013 at LUNA Hospital in Gwarinpa, Abuja. The babies are joined from the stomach and chest down. They have three legs joined together, one liver, one kidney and one intestine.”

Ironically, the scan that was conducted didn’t reveal that it was conjoined twins.

The 32-year-old resident of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, who is from Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, and his 30-year-old wife, are currently at a loss.

He said, “The scan was done but we were not informed that it was conjoined twins. When we were told that the babies were twins, we were all happy. For now, my wife is still in the hospital, although not fully recovered. But she is responding to treatment.”
