Love in its various forms acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships and, owing to its central psychological importance, is one of the most common themes in the creative arts.
Love may be understood as a function to keep human beings together against menaces and to facilitate the continuation of the species.

Rare Skin Disease Leaves Brother and Sister with SCALES all Over Their Bodies

Disturbing pictures show the daily ordeal of a young brother and sister in India as they battle with a rare skin disease that leaves them with scales all over their body.

Sayali Kapase, 13, and her brother Siddhant Kapase, 11, were pictured at the Dr. DY Patil Medical College and Research Centre in Maharashtra, India, as they were treated for 'Lamellar Ichthyosis'. 

Their condition means they have scales all over their body and dried skin that keeps peeling off.

The pair's mother Sarika Kapase, 31, and father Santosh Ramchandra Kapase, 39, attended the hospital with them along with their nine-month-old daughter Manasvi.

Both siblings have to apply medicated oil at least three times a day as well as medicated soaps, shampoos, lotions, and creams to keep their skin in tolerable condition.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Denning Pleads Guilty To 21 Child Sex Crimes

SHAMED Radio 1 DJ Chris Denning is set to die behind bars after admitting 21 further offences of child sex abuse.

The prolific paedophile, 75, admitted abusing 11 children – some as young as eight – between 1969 and 1986.

He pleaded guilty at Southwark Crown Court in central London to 21 sexual offences, including indecent assault of men and boys and inciting boys under 16 and 14 to commit acts of gross indecency.

He denied another three counts of indecent assault.

The offences relate to an investigation by Surrey Police – named Operation Ravine – into alleged sexual offences connected to the Walton Hop Disco, a teenage disco which ran from 1958 until 2001.

Woman Sets Guinness World Record with 17 Month Long ‪‎Pregnancy

A woman from ‪‎China‬ allegedly set a Guinness World Record recently with her 17-month-long--and counting--pregnancy.

According to People's China Daily, the woman, named Wang Shi, became pregnant last February. Her due date was Nov. 15, but the date came and went with Wang's baby showing no intention of entering the world. 

Worried, Wang went to the hospital every seven to 10 days after her due date passed for check-ups. Doctors ruled out a Cesarean in the 14th month of pregnancy because the fetus was still in stage two--not mature enough for the operation.

Annular Eclipse To Occur All Over Nigeria on 1st September

An annular eclipse will occur in all parts of the country with different degrees of totality on Thursday September 1st . This is according to a statement released by the Head, Media and Corporate Communications of National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Felix Ale yesterday August 16th.

An annular eclipse occurs when the sun and moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the moon is smaller than that of the sun, hence, the sun appears as a very bright ring or annulus surrounding the dark disk of the moon.

According to the statement, the highest degree of obscurity in Nigeria during the annular eclipse would be in the Southern part of Nigeria, particularly in Lagos, where it was expected to have 80 per cent obscurity, while the lowest degree of obscurity would be about 45 per cent and this would be observed in the Northern part of the country, particularly in Sokoto. in Abuja, the annular eclipse will be observed at about 60%.

Woman, neighbor torture 16-year-old housemaid with iron

A woman, Fatima Williams, and her neighbour, Waliu Yusuf, have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly brutalising a 16-year-old girl, identified only as Kemi, with a hot iron and electric cables.

It was learnt that the Kemi who was brought from Cotonou, Benin Republic,had been reportedly living with Williams, popularly called Alhaja, on Soji Adepegba Close, Allen Avenue, Ikeja,since January 2016 as a  housemaid.

It was gathered that the victim was allegedly tortured for not sweeping Williams’ compound last Thursday.

PUNCH Metro learnt that a resident informed the police and the suspects were arrested by the Ikeja Police Division on Friday, August 12.

A police source told our correspondent that the teenager had been admitted to the Police Cottage Hospital, Ikeja.

Newborn twin boys dumped in Lagos canal, found dead

The Lagos State Police Command has begun investigation into the death of two newborn babies, whose corpses were recovered from a canal beside a filling station in the Ajangbadi area of the state.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the two boys, suspected to be twins, were left in the canal on Friday.

A crowd of residents, who were drawn to the scene, was reported to have started taking snapshots of the babies before the arrival of policemen from the Ilemba Hausa division.

After seeing the corpses, the policemen were said to have called the attention of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, which removed and deposited them in a mortuary.

Nigerian Soldiers Pluck Out Eye Of FRSC Official For Trying To Stop Them From Torturing Civilian

An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Segun Enikuemehin, who dared to ask some military men who were assaulting a civilian to desist from such a dastardly act is currently at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) with one of his eyes totally damaged.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when Mr. Enikuemehin came upon the military men beating a harmless civilian,reports Sahara Reporters.
  Convinced that the military officials would beat the man to death if nothing was done, he reportedly walked up the angry soldiers and pleaded that they let the man go or hand him over to the police if he had done something illegal.

The military men would not take such effrontery lightly as they descended on the Good Samaritan and started beating him as well.
