Man Arrested for Stealing 7 Month Old Baby in Lagos

26 year old Happniess Umaru, has been arrested by the Lagos state police command for allegedly stealing a 7 month old baby at the Ijora area of Lagos state on March 16th.

According to a report by Vanguard, Umaru was intercepted by some police officers patrolling Eric Moore road Surulere. When he was questioned, Umaru first lied that he was the father of the boy but after much interrogation, he confessed to have picked up the baby inside a bush at Ijora Railway where he had gone to answer the call of nature.

When the police took him to the area where he took the child, they met with the child's mother, Patricia Victor who said she has been searching for her son since. Narrating how her baby boy disappeared, she said.

Boko Haram Kidnaps 103 Girls from Secondary School in Borno, Nigeria

Suspected members of Boko Haram sect yesterday while the country was still mourning the death of those killed at Nyanya motor park blast, abducted 103 students in a daring raid at the Girls Secondary School in Chibok; a town on the border between Borno and Adamawa States.

A soldier guiding the school was killed, while several villagers were wounded in the process, before they made away with the girls. The police commissioner in Borno State, Lawan Tanko, has confirmed the incident. Very sad. I don’t know if they intend to train these girls as well, but from previous reports, most of them are kept and used as sex slaves.

Man Who Planned Sister’s Kidnap Still On The Run As Police Parade Other Gang Members

Police in Bayelsa State have paraded 6 kidnappers who robbed the home of a woman known as Mrs. Ebitimi Salvation and also abducted her after the robbery. According to the Police, Mrs. Ebitimi’s brother planned her kidnap and also robbed her husband of N500, 000 during the operation.

Luck however ran out on them, as the boat they were using to convey their victim to an unknown destination suddenly developed a fault and stopped working.

The marine police, who sighted them, swooped and arrested them along the Southern Ijaw waterways as they made to escape.

It was said that, Mrs Ebitimi’s brother, Bright wore a mask all through the operation and escaped arrest. The police are however still looking for him.

Govt. Adams Oshiomhole Signs Death Penalty Bill into Edo State Law For Kidnapping

Edo State governor Adams Oshiomhole today October 18th signed into the Edo State law, a bill that prescribes the death penalty for kidnappers. The death penalty is not just for kidnappers who kill their victims, its for all acts of kidnapping whether it involves murder or not. I Didn’t Kidnap Briton But Was Collecting The Ransom – Suspect


The Lagos State Police Command on Monday paraded a 27-year-old man, Chukwuemeka Benson, for the alleged kidnap of a British expatriate, Dickson Lee.
The PUNCH had reported that Lee, who was kidnapped in Mafoluku area of the state on his way from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport last Thursday, had been rescued by the police on Sunday.
It was learnt that after kidnapping the victim, the kidnappers demanded $1m (N159m) as ransom. However, police detectives working undercover were able to negotiate N7.5m with the kidnappers.
It was learnt that the suspect was arrested while he was attempting to collect the ransom.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko, said the suspect was arrested along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Manko said after his arrest, Benson led detectives to an uncompleted building in Okota area of the state where the victim was found.

Kidnappers Lured Me With Ice Cream – Tales Of A 7-yr-Old Boy


Punch is reporting that A seven-year-old pupil of Martha Dei Primary School in Ogoja, Cross River State, Williams Ebele, said the kidnappers that abducted him on June 10, 2013 gave him ice cream to lure him to their hideout in the bush.
Ebele, who was abducted for four days before the police rescued him, also said the kidnappers took him once to a nearby river to take his bath.
He spoke on Friday at the headquarters of the Cross River State Police Command in Calabar, where two of his abductors alongside six other arrested criminals, were paraded by the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Kola Sodipo.
Items recovered from the suspects were one GPMG gun, two AK49 rifles, one AK47 rifle, one assault rifle, seven rounds of GPMG live ammunition, eight empty magazines of AK rifles and speedboat W23 fitted with 200HP Yamaha engine.

Cops Arrest Assistant Superintendent of Police, 3 Others Over Kidnap Kingpin’s Escape


POLICE in Delta State have arrested and detained four police officers, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Sergeant and Corporal, for allegedly aiding the escape of a kidnap kingpin from police cell in Asaba.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, confirmed the detention of the police officers when contacted. This came as the Joint Task Force, JTF, in Sapele, arrested four suspected kidnappers and razed the shrine of a native doctor, who prepared charm for the gang.
Investigations showed that soon after he escaped, the kidnap kingpin from the South-East region called the complainant in the case to inform him that he had paid his way out of police cell and he should get ready for him.
