Bomb Scare at NNPC Headquarters

Heightened security measures around the four towers of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation headquarters located in the Central Business District of Abuja on Tuesday led to wild rumours of bomb scare in the expansive complex.

Sources within the Corporation however swiftly dismissed the rumour. Reports indicated that armed security officials made up of policemen and soldiers had early on Tuesday morning taken control of strategic areas at around the NNPC Towers, ensuring that there is a free movement of vehicles on the adjoining roads.

Access to the Tower was restricted to only workers of the Corporation and few visitors who were thoroughly screened. Tuesday is a normal visiting day in the NNPC.

OPC Rescues Raped Teenager In Lagos

Members of the O’odua People’s Congress, OPC, and concerned Lagosians have rescued a teenager (name withheld), who was raped, robbed and abandoned by an unidentified man in Agege area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the OPC members saw the secondary schoolgirl on in a traumatized state at a public toilet near NITEL Office, at Oko Oba, Agege.

And after giving her first aid treatment, the teenager was handed over to the police at the Agege Elere Police Divisional Headquarters, who referred her to Orile Agege General Hospital,  Agege for a comprehensive medical treatment.

The teenager, who will be 15 years by August, narrated that she came from Osun State and was on her way to Badagry to stay with her aunty who had just given birth, but decided to have a stay the night at Agege, when it became late (around 9.p.m.) and she couldn’t get a bus to her destination.

Missing Teen With $10 in His Pocket Found After Spending FIVE Days Riding the New York Subway

A missing schoolboy has been found safe after spending five days riding the subway with just $10 in his pocket because he didn't want to clean up after his dog.
Kareem Granton, 11, of East New York, was found Monday morning at the Union Square subway station after a woman spotted him and alerted police.

When he was reunited with his distraught family he revealed that he had left home because he did not want to clean up after his dog, Queenie.

Kareem went missing on Wednesday after he got home from school and went to play video games without permission with a friend after being told to clean up.
The pair then went to a nearby Chuck E. Cheese's to eat and Kareem disappeared. 
His frantic family launched an appeal to find the schoolboy who disappeared after having 'a tantrum in the moment.'

Missing Malaysia Jet Suspect 'Not Terrorist'

One of two men who used false passports to board the missing Malaysia Airlines flight was an Iranian asylum seeker and not believed to belong to a terrorist group, say police.

It came as search and rescue teams expanded their search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 to include a vast area on the west peninsula of Malaysia at the Straits of Malacca.

Malaysian police have said that one of the two men was an 19-year-old Iranian asylum seeker trying to reach Germany.

The identity of the other man continues to be investigated.

Obesere Rape Saga: 'Save Me from Untimely Death' - Victim Cries Out

The 29-year-old businesswoman, Olanike Olaiya, who was allegedly raped by popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Abass Akande, aka Obesere, has cried out one more time, calling on police authorities not to allow her matter with Obesere to be swept under the carpet so that she will not die.

According to the lady who spoke with Vanguard yesterday, Obesere’s insertion of his ring in her private part, leading to bleeding and pain, may not be unconnected with ritual activities. She refuted allegations made by Obesere claiming they were lovers and that she wanted to use the rape saga to blackmail and extort money from him. 

Mother Sells Three-Day-Old Baby for N260,000 In Akwa Ibom, Nigeria

Punch, is reporting that a nursing mother in Akwa Ibom named Imaobong Udoh (pictured above) has been arrested for allegedly selling her 3-day old baby girl for N260,000. Full report below

Also arrested along with Imaobong were four persons for allegedly participating in the theft of the baby.

They are the buyer, Mrs. Regina James; her husband, Mfon James; the traditional birth attendant who delivered the baby, Mrs. Comfort Henry; and Mr Emmanuel Okon, a homeopathic doctor, who arranged the sale.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Gwadabe, said in Uyo on Monday that the father of the baby had reported the theft to the police, leading to the arrest of the suspects.

Gwadabe said, “On March 3, 2014, a case of child stealing was reported by Mr. Eteobong James, of No. 33 Urua Ekpa Road, Itu Local Governmnet Area, to the police, where a three-day-old baby girl was sold for N260, 000.
