This report says no fewer than nineteen persons have been killed in a cult clash in Idoha and Ulapata communities in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Our correspondent gathered that suspected Iceland and Greenlanders cult groups have been locked in a battle for supremacy in the area which led to the setting up of a vigilante group called Isakaba boys by the paramount ruler of the community to curb the activities of the cult gangs in the area.

In a fresh attack, it was revealed that suspected Greenlanders had on saturday wipe out a family of four persons and beheaded in Idoha community in the same Local Government Area who were later identified as member of the Iceland cult group in the area.

The General Overseer of Agape Baptist Church, Pastor Oprite Amakiri, has been arrested in Rivers State.

The 50-year-old randy pastor confessed to how he deceived a member of his church and raped her 18-year-old sister before he was exposed and dragged to the police.

Amakiri was said to have told about 200 members of his church that he had been battling waste pain for the past two years and stressed that God told him that a girl between the age of 12 and 18 years old would be needed to massage his waist for him to be healed, Punch reports.

However, the gullible members of the church did not see anything wrong in the randy pastor’s ‘prophecy’ and one of them, the elder sister to the victim (names withheld) decided to make available her 18-year-old sister for the massage job.

A 32-year-old man, Anthony Wayas has been arrested Rivers State Police Command for allegedly having sex with his 12-year-old niece since 2013.

The girl (name withheld) has been living with her uncle Wayas and his wife in Finima community in Bonny Local Government Area since the death of her father while she still a baby.

Recounting her ordeal, the girl said her uncle started abusing her sexually in 2013. He would leave for work in the morning and come back during the day while his wife is away at her work place where she's a cleaner.

he said, "He would take the children to the big room, asking them to stay there, and would take me to the small room. He would remove my pant and push me on the bed. He would then remove his trousers and bring out his manhood. He would then put it inside me and sleep with me. I can’t count the number of times it has happened. When I told the wife, she threatened to return me to our village." On April 19, her uncle dragged her into the bathroom and had sex with her, warning her not to shout. 

Ahoada High Court Bombed in Rivers State

A bomb blast reportedly hit the Ahoada High Court, Rivers State today. 
A statement by Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP confirmed the incident .

According to reports, the bombing of the court where Justice Charles N. Wali usually holds court, occurred on Monday morning a few hours before a politically charged suit against Hon Evans Bipi, who has been unlawfully parading himself as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. 

Justice Wali had about a month ago ordered Bipi to stop parading himself as Speaker of the House as the tussle over control of the state government between loyalists of the Presidency and the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, lingers with an end in sight. No casualties have been reported yet over the bombing.

Embattled Rivers State Lawmaker Chidi Lloyd Remanded In Police Custody

The majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly was in a high court, facing charges of conspiracy, willful damage, and attempted murder, but his arraignment was stalled because the Attorney General wants to try the case.

Chidi Lloyd will remain in police custody until August 6, 2013.

[Photos] Rivers State Uproar: Protesters Stoned Rotimi Amaechi’s Convoy, As Northern Governors Visit

There was commotion again in Rivers State as thousands of youths believed to be loyal to the Minister of State for Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday, reportedly threw stones and other objects at the convoy of the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.

Vehicles in the convoy were conveying four northern governors – Sule Lamido (Jigawa); Murtala Nyako (Adamawa); Babangida Aliyu (Niger); and Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano) – who were on a solidarity visit to Amaechi.

A bus in which some commissioners in the state were seated in was said to have had its windscreen smashed by the protesters.

But the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Angela Agabe, said,  “There was no time the governors’ convoy was attacked.

 “Nothing like that (attack) happened,” she said, adding that adequate security was provided at the airport to forestall any unpleasant development.

Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, who confirmed that a Government House bus was damaged by some youths, described the incident as a ploy by anti-democratic forces to cause confusion in the state.

Rivers State House of Assembly Crisis Escalates, Spills To Streets

The fracas that erupted over who controls the Rivers State House of Assembly, yesterday, spilled to the streets, leaving several people injured. At the centre are 27 legislators loyal to Governor Rotimi Amaechi and five others belonging to the opposition.

Yesterday’s street fight attracted thugs who descended on pro-Amaechi supporters, forcing them to retreat into Government House in Port Harcourt.

The seat of government in the state did not prove to be a safe haven as policemen in hot pursuit of the pro-Amaechi suppporters shot several canisters of tear gas into the fence of the seat of power, peppering government officials holed inside the complex. The chaos provoked by the mayhem forced banks, the state secretariat and the judiciary to hurriedly close shops.

Soldiers Take Over Rivers State Assembly

A detachment of soldiers has taken over the Rivers House of Assembly following the fracas that erupted there on Tuesday and continued today. The soldiers took over when two opposing youth groups numbering over 2,000, some pro-Governor Chibuike Amaechi, some against, attempted to storm the Assembly this morning.

They had disparate missions: to either prevent the five renegade lawmakers from sitting or to aid them. There was a clash between the youths and one was reportedly shot. No one knows who actually fired the shot.

The pro-Amaechi group, which is under the auspices of Ikwerre Youth Movement, IYM, was this morning led by Tony Okocha, the Chief of Staff, while the other group of youths under the aegis of Grassroots Democratic Initiative, GDI, is loyal to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of State for Education.

A group of five anti Ameachi lawmakers reportedly toppled the twenty-five pro Ameachi and purportedly impeached the house speaker. Symbol of authority "Mace" was completely broken, house leader sustained serious injury while computer systems were seen destroyed. TVC NEWS Kelechi Emekalam reports from the scene of the political mayhem.

Did You Know RIVERS State has the Highest Number of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria?

RIVERS State has the highest number of people living with HIV/AIDS with a total of 145,236 adults and 15,000 children affected. Priscillia Shu, Co-ordinator, Rhema Care Integrated Development Centre stated this when the HIV/AIDS awareness center facilitated a sensitisation programme among staff of the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism .

To curb the spread of HIV/AIDS, the awareness campaigner stressed the need  for abstinence and faithfulness to one uninfected partner at the event. She also advised on the need to avoid use of unsterilized sharp instruments and ensure that only screened blood are transfused.

We had set out from Abuja in the morning of Friday April 26, 2013 to Imo State to attend the funeral rites of the younger sister of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. Our plane, a Bombardier jet owned by the Rivers State Government, landed at the airport in Owerri. It was in Owerri that the pilot of our plane was first tipped off that there is a plot to ground our plane in Owerri that Friday.

Fortunately for us, we took off from Owerri airport and arrived at Akure airport en-route to Ekiti for the burial of the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State Funmilayo Olayinka without any incident. On the flight to Akure was the Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal who we met in Imo State and was also heading to Ekiti for the burial of Mrs Olayinka. Also on the flight were the Governor of Rivers State Rt. Hon, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Director-General Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) Asishana Bayo Okauru, Kalabari prince and politician, Prince Tonye Princewill, some aides of the Governor and me.
