Oscar Pistorius Rekindled Romance With His Ex-Lover...?

One of Oscar Pistorius’ former girlfriends has appeared to support him in court for the first time this week, prompting speculation that the depressed sprinter is drawing comfort from their past romance during his final days of freedom.

Jenna Edkins, for whom the convicted murderer has confessed to having a lingering affection, looked entirely at home among the ranks of Pistorius’ extensive family as she took her place next to his sister, Aimee, on the hard, wooden benches of Pretoria’s High Court.

The 26-year-old bank worker has maintained a deliberately low profile since her name was first linked to Pistorius, 29, at the height of his celebrity following his historic appearance at both the Olympics and Paralympics in London in 2012. 

With a comforting hand outstretched to Aimee, who recently left South Africa to begin a new life in London, Jenna regularly looked with concern at the back of the double amputee’s bowed head as he sobbed quietly in the dock when the crucial hearing to decide his punishment yesterday got underway.

Corporal Kills, Buries Inspector Over N300,000

A police corporal, Daramola Tosin, attached to the Ekiti Police Division in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, has been dismissed from the Force for allegedly killing an inspector, Mr. Lateef Shuaib.

Tosin allegedly shot Shuaib after secretly withdrawing up to N300,000 from Shuaib’s bank account without his consent.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Shuaib had entrusted Tosin with his Automated Teller Machine card when he fell ill.

The suspect was said to have initially withdrawn money for the use of the father of two.

However, it was learnt that the suspect started taking money in bits from the account for his own use until he withdrew up to N300,000.

Shuaib was said to have chided him for the action.

Innoson Boss, Five Others Face Criminal Charges

A federal high court sitting in Lagos, southwest Nigeria has authorized the Attorney General of Federation to commence the prosecution of a Lagos business man Innocent Chukwuma, his company Innoson Nigeria Limited and four others for alleged forgery offences.

The ruling of the presiding judge, Saliu Saidu was based on an application filed before the court by Federal Ministry of Justice that the Attorney General of the Federation has taken over the prosecution of the accused persons which the prosecutor from the office of the Inspector General of Police objected.

However after listening to the submission of the counsel of the two parties, the court decided the Attorney General of the Federation should go ahead with the prosecution of the accused persons

Consequently the Attorney General filed a four-count amended criminal charge against the accused persons.

The other accused persons to be arraigned alongside the Chukwuma are Charles Chukwu, Maximian Chukwura, Mitsui Osk Lines, and Annajekwu Sunny.

Nigeria Bans Unauthorised Use of Drones

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has banned the launching of Remotely Piloted Aircraft, RPA, in the Nigerian airspace without its permit and that of the Office of National Security Adviser, ONSA.

This is contained in a statement issued by the General Manager, Public Relations, NCAA, Sam Adurogboye, which was made available to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on Sunday in Lagos.

The statement said the move was part of the safety guidelines issued by the regulatory agency to drone operators following the proliferation of the technology in the country.

“In recent times, RPA/UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) is being deployed for commercial and recreational purposes in the country without adequate security clearance.

“Therefore with the preponderance of these operations, particularly in a non-segregated airspace, there has to be proactive safety guidelines.

Our correspondent gathered that suspected Iceland and Greenlanders cult groups have been locked in a battle for supremacy in the area which led to the setting up of a vigilante group called Isakaba boys by the paramount ruler of the community to curb the activities of the cult gangs in the area.

In a fresh attack, it was revealed that suspected Greenlanders had on saturday wipe out a family of four persons and beheaded in Idoha community in the same Local Government Area who were later identified as member of the Iceland cult group in the area.

Man Burns Lover, Her 2 Kids to Death for Denying Him Sex

A 26-year old secondary school leaver, Oluwaseyi Babatola, who burnt to death five family members while they were sleeping, says he is being haunted daily by the memories of the children he murdered.

Babatola, who spoke with a Punch correspondent in Abuja, stated that he was disturbed by the thoughts of the two children that died along with their grandmother, mother and uncle, when he set their apartment on fire on April 15, 2015, at Sabongari, Bwari, in the Federal Capital Territory.

The fire consumed the whole building, including the apartment of the Babatolas, and also injured the suspect.

Babatola, who is being detained by the FCT Special Anti-Robbery Squad, identified his victims as Janet Isuawa; her sons, Samuel and Osaze; her cousin, Taphael; and Janet’s mother.

Policeman’s Wife Stabs Neighbour for Laughing

The wife of a policeman attached to the state police command allegedly stabbed her neighbour, Mrs. Olaitan Ayobami.The unfortunate incident happened on Etunrere Street in the Ikorodu area of Lagos on Monday.

The cop’s wife, Mrs. Desola Ochoche, fled the residence afterwards, leaving Ayobami for dead. Ayobami was later rushed to a private hospital in the area.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the attack was caused by a scuffle between the duo on Sunday when Ochoche reportedly challenged Ayobami to a duel for laughing at her.

It was gathered that they were separated only for the fight to resume around 6am on Monday when Ayobami, a teacher, wanted to bathe.

Housewife Attacks Maid, 9, with Hot Iron in Enugu, Nigeria

A 35-year-old housewife, Nneka Ifeoze, is now in the custody of the police in Enugu State for allegedly attacking her nine-year old housemaid. 

feoze, who hails from Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State, resides at No. 3, Ava Okocha Street in Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State. 

The victim, Oluebube Orji, also from Nkwerre in Imo State, was said to have incurred the wrath of Ifeoze 8a.m. yesterday, when the woman returned home to discover that her two year old- boy left in the care of the maid, was assaulted by the victim. 

Man Chains Son for 2 Months.. Hides Him Home in Dopemu, Lagos

Operatives from the Lagos state command, Dopemu division has arrested a man named Akanbi Lawal for chaining his son Yusuf Lawal aged 35 years for two months. 

When he was discovered, Yusuf's hands were already decaying due to the injury sustained as a result of the chaining. 

When interrogated, Mr. Lawal said the shameful and disgraceful attitude of his son made him chain him down at home for two months.

Man Kills Wife For Refused To Give Him More Children

According to The Sun, Okala shot his wife in front of his mother in-law at her farm in Ninda village, Kokona Local Government Area, Nasarawa State on April 4th. 

The state commissioner of police, Lawal Shehu who spoke on the incident, said Okala had accused his wife of aborting their babies after she refused to give him more children. This had caused a big problem between the couple as Okala demanded that his wife bore him more children. 

Things between the couple came to a sad end on April 4th after Okala, wearing a mask, stormed his mother in-law's farm and shot his 18 year old wife in front of her mother and sister. He tried to run away after committing the crime but was quickly apprehended by officers at the Garaku Police station.

Thirty-two year-old Nurudeen Oriyomi was arrested for allegedly defiling his late friend’s 12-year-old daughter at Alhaji Yinusa street, Bariga, Lagos.  He bowed in shame and self pity when approached, burying his face in his palms. When asked what brought him to the Lagos State Police Command , he burst into tears, still refusing to lift his face. 

 He spoke in an inaudible voice saying , 

“The devil pushed me to rape my late friend’s daughter.” 

The act took place in his one-room apartment at about 2pm on April 9, 2016, while the girl was sent on an errand. Information at Crime Guard’s disposal had it that Oriyomi and the father of the primary five pupil were friends before the latter’s demise two years ago.

9,000 Nigerians In Foreign Prisons, According To The Federal Government Nigeria

THE Federal Government, as disclosed that over 9,000 Nigerians were presently languishing in prisons abroad, with the largest number of 752 in the UK, while most of the rest are in prisons in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru, spoke with journalists. According to him, the country would not defend any Nigerian that breaks laws of other countries, but assured that the ministry will look into the case to ascertain whether any form of highhandedness was use against him.

Ashiru said: “We believe in due process and the rule of law. We believe in the judiciary, where our Chief Justice is working round the clock to sanitise the judiciary.

“One of our own principles is that we will stand up any where in the world, especially where it is a case of victimisation or injustice.

“However, when a Nigerian wilfully plans to commit a crime, then he is on his own because we don’t support criminality, indiscipline or breaking the laws of any country.”
