Lightning Kills 2 Women During Prayer Session in Church

In a bizarre case of ill fate, two women, 25-year-old Chioma Jonathan and Chinonye Anyanwu, aged 26, died when they were struck by lightning.

The unfortunate incident happened when the two women went to participate in the regular Holy Ghost Hour prayer session of Heavenly Sure Charismatic Church, a Pentecostal church, usually held in the premises of Comprehensive Secondary School, Emekuku in Owerri North LGA, Imo State.

25-year-old Chioma Jonathan was a native of Obiangwu in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area and Chinonye Anyanwu, aged 26, from Ahiazu Mbaise LGA, both in Imo State.

Also affected in the lightning strike was the 54-year-old General Overseer of the church, Pastor Luke Nwokocha, who led the short-lived prayer session.

The gruesome murder of 22-year-old Precious Naza Onyenanu, who graduated last year from Imo State University with a degree in Edu­cation (Economics), has given her traumatized father, Mr. Innocent Eze Onyenanu and other relations the greatest shock of their lives.

He still shudders every time the thought flashes in his mind and his tears have also not ceased to flow. Precious, a native of Isu, in Isu Local Government Area of Imo State was allegedly butchered by Ephraim Isom, 27, a graduate of Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RUST), who hails from Andoni Lo­cal Government Area in Rivers State. 

The heinous murder took place in a hotel in the Rukpokwu area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Precious met Ephraim in 2012, when he was posted to Imo State for the national youth service and they fell in love.

Franklin Njoku, pictured above, a Senior School Certificate Examination candidate who rented a room in a house belonging to one Mr Eze, is currently in police custody after he lured his landlord's four-year-old daughter into the bush, defiled the little girl,  murdered her then hanged her on a dwarf palm tree near their house.

Nigerian Tribune reports that Franklin Njoku, aged 18 years from Ohekelem in Ngorokpala Local Government Area of the state was in Uvuru community to sit for the ongoing West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) at Aboh Mbaise Secondary School, Uvuru.

Since Njoku’s village is quite a distance from Uvuru, his parents decided to rent a room to reduce the stress of having to commute between the two communities on a daily basis. Njoku was able to secure accommodation in Eze’s compound. The Ezes received Njoku with open hands as one of their tenants. He became close to all members of the family, including the late 4 year old Gloria.

Woman sells her son’s baby for N350,000 in Imo State

According to Sun News, Mrs. Tina Iwuji, a 52 year old mother from Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Imo State has been arrested by the Imo state police command for allegedly selling the two weeks old baby of her son's girlfriend.

Mrs Iwuji son, Emeka had impregnated his Lagos girlfriend, Esther Godwin, a native of Ndoki, Delta State and then decided to send her to his mother without telling his mum that he owned the pregnancy and also instructed Esther not to open up to his mother that he was the who got her pregnant.

Mrs Iwuji accepted Emeka's request and allowed Esther move into her house in January 2014. Esther eventually gave birth, and just two weeks later, Mrs Iwuji sold the baby for N350,000 not knowing she was selling her own grand daughter Continue...

Arms Depot Uncovered In Imo State, Nigeria

The special unit of the Imo State Police Command, “Police Ambush Squad,” has discovered a firearms depot at Udume Ogwa in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. The suspects, Okechukwu and Donatus, who are brothers, were arrested at the depot during alleged negotiation to sell a pump action to a prospective buyer.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Katsina, told Crime Watch that the prime suspect, Donatus, brought the illegal arms and ammunition from Turkey and that though they were licensed but that the licence of the arms had been revoked since 1982.

“It was through information that the Police Ambush Squad received that made them to storm his house and recovered over 13 pump action rifles; other assorted rifles seven hundred and fifty (750) live cartridges; One carton of security torchlights and a bullet proof jacket with the inscription, “Nigeria Police” and bearing the initials of the Imo State Police Commissioner,” he said.

Baby Factory Controversy: Orphanage Home Indicts Police - Slams N100 Million Lawsuit

The management of Ahamefule Hospital and Orphanage Home has accused the Imo Police Commissioner, Mohammed Musa Kastina, of willfully lying and misleading the public that the orphanage and hospital was into child trafficking. This is just as the management has slammed a N100 million lawsuit against the police command for alleged defamation and illegally invading the premises of the establishments.

Addressing newsmen in Owerri, Chief B. Okemili, the legal adviser of Ahamefule Hospital stated that the Imo State police commissioner in a desperate bid to impress the public had willfully “lied” to mislead the people into believing that the hospital facility and the orphanage home were involved in child trafficking.

The Police recently unearthed a baby delivery syndicate and a key suspect arrested and paraded in Lagos, alongside two other women who were believed to have paid certain sums of money respectively, to be delivered of babies.

Forty three years old Joy Ibe who lives at Ajah area of Lagos, said she has been married for 18 years without any issues, a dilemma that prompted her to run up and down seeking for fruit of the womb, until she came in contact with a Port Harcourt based 50- year old woman identified as Oby George, who was noted for helping women deliver babies after paying an agreed amount of money to her.

Joy told news men how she met Oby, and what followed after that:  “one of my neighbours visited Nigeria and heard about Oby, after she travelled back to the Unites States, she text me Oby’s number and asked me to contact her if I am interested.

I called up Oby and told her my problems, she gave me her address to come and meet her in Port Harcourt. When I got to Port Harcourt and met with her, she gave me some herbs, which I took until, it was time for me to deliver.  I paid her N2, 700.000 for triplets.

200-Year-Old Iroko Tree Kills 31 Persons, Leaves 16 Others Injured In Imo State

It was tears and anguish in Umudagu, Mbieri community in Mbaitoli council area of Imo state as no fewer than 31 persons have been confirmed dead following the fall of an ancestral ‘Uko’  tree estimated to have been over 200 years in existence.

The tree which during a rainstorm also left scores of persons injured and about 7 others either buried in the rubble or missing. The size of the disaster was occasioned by the fact that under the tree is a location of a popular night market simply described as “Ukwu Uko market” meaning the market under the ‘Uko’ tree.
