Court Lifts Injunction Against Brymo

On the March 3rd, Brymo won round one of his court battle with his former record label Chocolate City, who took an injunction against him, 'restraining him from recording, releasing or distributing any musical works pending the determination of the suit against him.'

A judge sitting at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi lifted the injunction against Brymo, saying he's free to continue doing music and releasing his materials while the case continues hearing in court.

The presiding judge, Justice Buba I.N said Chocolate City can be compensated at a later period. "Since the plaintiff can be compensated at a later date, the defendant is free to carry out his duties as a singer so that none of the parties will be at a disadvantage’. the judge said

A 2-day hearing for the case has been slated for 19th and 20th of March.

I’m Not At War With MI — Says Jesse Jagz

In an interview with the Punch, Rap artiste, Jesse Jagz talks about his career and his exit from Chocolate City:
How is life, now that you have exited Chocolate City?
It has been great. I have had to adjust but it is good because the same team that was with me at Chocolate City is the same team with me now and I have not had to do anything new. At the same time, it is still a lot of responsibility and that is why the adjustment is needed.
There has been a lot of misconception on why you let your former label…
I spent five years at Chocolate City. I got there in 2007 and left officially in 2012. Chocolate City is not my company. I had put in so much work in my new album and felt it was time for me to do things for myself. It was not a spur of the moment decision; it was something I had thought about over time. The reason why I probably did not tell anybody was because sometimes, family might be more concerned about you taking business risks. The day I took the decision, I did not tell anyone including my brother, MI. I produced about four albums for Chocolate City. I don’t owe them anything and I don’t know where the news that my contract had not run out came from.

Brymo Confirms Leaving Chocolate City

First there was a report that Brymo had left Chocolate City, then the record label released a statement denying the rumour: And it reads:
We can confirm that Brymo still has a valid contract with Choc City and we are certain our Artiste “Brymo” can confirm the same fact. We urge all reputable media houses to check facts with our establishment prior to releasing “Untrue” stories to the general public that rely on them for valuable Information”. ‘He still has three years and two albums to deliver, that’s what his contract says‘,

Now Brymo has gone on Twitter to set the record straight. Like Jesse Jagz, he has also left Chocolate City, though the record company is insisting he still has a valid contract with them.

Brymo Leaves Chocolate City

News just broke out on social media that Brymo has left Chocolate City. I don’t have any confirmation of that, however, HipHopWorld Magazine is a largely- reliable source, and they spearheaded the news. Here’s what they had to say.
“Brymo has decided to call it quits with Chocolate City. This latest development occurs barely two months after former label mate Jesse Jagz walked away from the company.HipHopWorld has it on reliable information that the “Ara” singer officially parted ways with ‘Choc City’ over the weekend; but both parties have managed to keep a lid on the issue until now.Brymo has been rumored to be not-so-friendly with some members of the Choc family; and apart from the business side of things, it doesn’t seem like ‘The Son of a Kapenta’ will be sorely missed by his remaining label-mates.
Chocolate City now only has M.I and Ice Prince left as its established acts.”

Chocolate City Official Statement on the Jesse Jagz Departure

The rumour mill has been working overtime and the result is some information that has surfaced online regarding the Choc City versus Jesse Jags story. The NETNG.com website produced libellous information which made several allegations against the record label without confirming facts prior to the release.

In one allegation, it made comments that Choc City had two so-called “strong claims” against the said Artiste, one of which stated that Jesse Jags owed the label some un-paid debt and the other which claimed the label leaked that the Artiste was addicted to Marijuana. World PR Media (who recently began to handle PR activities on behalf of the label) released the following facts and forwarded the following statements on behalf of Choc City.
