A woman paid for her mother’s funeral by charging men £350 a head to date her.

Marlene Cowens, 44, has been raking in a cool £5,000 each year since she signed up to a specialist dating website. Men pay up to £350 for just an hour or two in Ms Cowens’ company, which is at a cinema or restaurant.

Ms Cowens, from New York, says she rarely sleeps with her dates. Out of 90 dates, she has slept with two.

‘It’s the best of both worlds. I get a nice night out and I get paid for it,’ she said.

The money helped Ms Cowens to pay part of the funeral of her mother Maria, who died aged 68 last year.

‘I had to do what I had to do to make it happen,’ Ms Cowens said.

Ms Cowen, who works as a secretary for a construction company, is urging other women to follow her example.

Benzino’s Nephew Pleads Not Guilty After Shooting Him At Mom’s Funeral

Boston Globe reports: Gai Scott appeared in Plymouth District Court today to face a charge of armed assault with intent to murder. A not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf by attorney Jon Ciraulo. Scott, 36, of Randolph is accused of shooting his uncle, Raymond E. Scott, 48, a rapper and reality star known by the stage name of Benzino.

“When the dust settles, this case will be shown to be self-defense,’’ Ciraulo said.

Gai Scott was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing requested by Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz’s office.

The bizarre incident took place on Route 3 South on Saturday.

Raymond Scott told the Globe Sunday from his bed at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth that he did not intend to attend his mother’s funeral in order to avoid trouble stemming from a festering family feud.

Benzino Shot Multiple Times While Leaving His Mother’s Funeral

Reality TV rapper Benzino has been shot and injured - allegedly by his nephew - while attending his mother's funeral.

The 48-year-old star of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, whose real name is Raymond Scott, had been driving in the funeral procession in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on Saturday, when Gai Scott pulled alongside in a Bentley and fired into Benzino's Dodge SUV, according to authorities.

The boss of Hip-Hop Weekly sought help from a passerby and was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds, where he is reported to be in a critical condition.

Family and friends are said to be at his bedside, including fiancee Althea Heart.

Man Declared Dead Wakes Up In Body Bag

Workers at a US funeral home say they found a man alive and kicking when they opened a body bag.

Walter Williams, 78, had no pulse and was pronounced dead on Wednesday.

"I stood there and watched them put him in a body bag and zipped it up," Williams' nephew, Eddie Hester, told local station WAPT-TV.

As workers were preparing to embalm Mr Williams at the Porter and Sons Funeral Home in Lexington, Mississippi, he started kicking in the body bag, they said.

Coroner Dexter Howard said it was a "miracle".
