Book Of Psalms Sets World Record At Auction

A tiny book of psalms from 1640 has sold for $14.2m (£8.8m) in New York City, setting an auction record for a printed book. The Bay Psalm Book is believed to be the first book printed in what is now the US.
Sotheby's offered it for sale on Tuesday evening. The presale estimate was $15m to $30m. It was bought by US businessman and philanthropist David Rubenstein, who plans to lend it to libraries around the country.
Only 11 copies of the Bay Psalm Book survive in varying degrees of completeness. The book sold was one of two copies held by Boston's Old South Church
A copy of John James Audubon's Birds of America was the record-holder. It sold for $11.5m at Sotheby's in 2010. Follow Me On Twitter & Instagram: @effiongeton

Francis Bacon Painting Sells For $142M in NY, Sets World Record For Artwork Sold At Auction

A painting by Francis Bacon of his friend and fellow artist Lucian Freud has become the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction after it fetched $142m (£89m, 106m euros) in New York. The triptych, Three Studies of Lucian Freud (1969), is considered one of Bacon's greatest masterpieces.
It was sold after six minutes of fierce bidding, Christie's auction house said. The price eclipsed the $119.9m (£74m) paid for Edvard Munch's The Scream last year.

[Photos] Naked Bathers Set New Skinny-Dipping World Record

MORE than 700 naturists strip off to smash the skinny-dipping world record.
Exhibitionists young and old undressed and hit the surf in Vera, Spain on Sunday in a bid to break the previous best set at 506 in New Zealand last year.

And they managed it comfortably - with 729 people in total turning out to bare their bits on the beach. The skinny dippers were given a helping hand by the weather - which has barely dipped below 30 degrees in the past month.

The record attempt was organised by bosses at the tourist board in Vera - an hour east of Almeria - who are now planning to promote the resort as a destination for naturists.

Twins Born 87 Days Apart Survive, Set World Record

A set of twins born 87 days apart have already made world history. Not bad, considering both of the little girls are less than a year old!
Amy and Katie are adorable, healthy babies living in Waterford, Ireland, with mom Maria Jones-Elliot, dad Chris Elliot and siblings Olivia and Jack. But for a time, it looked like both wouldn't make it.
“The doctors told me there was very little hope of them surviving as they were so premature," Maria recalled, explaining that her water broke at 23 weeks.
Dr. Eddie O'Donnell works at Waterford Regional Hospital, where the twins were born. "Most people haven't even heard of this," O'Donnell said. "You can end up losing a twin, it could be stillborn."
