The
police at Elere Station has arrested two patent medicine sellers accused of
buying blood from students in Agege area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. The
suspects, Olusola Opeyemi, 23 and Adeagbo Olatunji, 35, were accused of
collecting blood from students of Oyewole High School, Agege.
The blood donors were paid between N1,000 and N1,500 each. Investigations
revealed that the blood collected from the students was sold to a middleman,
Adetola Kayode, 48, for N7,000 per pint. Kayode, it was learnt, sold the blood
to two men who claimed to be doctors at N11, 000 per pint. Police identified
the ‘doctors’ who have been arrested as Otokiti Ajibola, 53 and Ladunni Steven,
