Woman’s Skin Re-Attached After Being Brutally Ripped From Her Skull

Here’s one of those stories that makes you marvel at the capabilities of modern medicine.
Surgeons in the Czech Republic have reattached the skin on a woman’s head, after her forehead, eyebrows and eyelids, were ripped off by a powerful electric drill.
Petrona Novtona, 27, is now recovering after the skin from her arm was used to replace the severed flesh from her head.
The incident occurred when she had been using the drill, and her hair was been tied up in a ponytail when a few strands suddenly became trapped in the spinning device.

Less than a second later, the rest of her hair had been wrapped around the drill-bit.
But as she jerked her head forward in a bid to free herself, she tore off the skin from her head, in a straight line that ran from her eyes to the back of her skull.
Dr Andrej Sukop, who performed the extraordinary operation, said: ‘We are very happy, and in fact the operation was such a success that would already had several enquiries from other hospitals who want more details on exactly what we did’.
Ms Novtona, from the village of Tremosna, is now recovering after her horrific ordeal.
