A letter from a dad to his
gay son - who he overheard saying he planned to come out to his parents - has
gone viral due to its simple, but seemly hopeful message.
Writes Nate's dad:
“I overheard your phone
conversation with Mike last night about your plans to come out to me. The only
thing I need you to plan is to bring home OJ and bread after class."
"We are out, like you
now. I’ve known you were gay since you were six; I’ve loved you since you were
born. Dad. PS Your mom and I think you and Mike make a cute couple.”
The letter was posted by
FCKH8 (dot) com, a group dedicated to empowering youth through gay-positive,
often snarky apparel, photos and videos.
The national organization
Parents and Families of Lesbian and Gays (PFLAG) also saw the letter and loved
it, calling it "what PFLAG is all about."
