Julius Agwu Chills With Crippled Beggers To Promote Upcoming Show in Lagos & Abuja

Ahead of his February 7, 'Life As I See It' concert, comedian and Actor, Julius Agwu has hit the streets to pally with crippled beggers.

The Ikwere-Rivers State born multi-talented artiste, who is known for his rib-cracking jokes and witty acts, was spotted in the midst of two handicapped beggers this morning. Apparently, Julius wants to bring them to his show to also have fun like other privileged Nigerians.

Some of the stars listed to perform that day are ace songstress, Lady Onyeka Onwenu, Timi Dakolo, Banky W, Waje, Efya, Bez, Mimicko, and popular juju act, Yinka Ayefele and other.

I Almost Ran Mad the First Time I Was Given N100,000 – Timi Dakolo

Timi Dakolo is sure living large. Not only is he cruising in his state of the art cars, the young man is winning and dinning with the rich and getting invited to elite events that would certainly turn his colleagues green with envy.

He was recently part of the selected few artistes that performed at the Centenary Award Dinner alongside Waje.

But even as things are going well for him at the moment, the young man is not likely to forget in a hurry his experience with poverty when he started his career.

He could remember how he almost went bonkers the first time he got N100, 000.  He said that he could hardly sleep that night.

“I couldn’t wait till the morning to rush to the bank and deposit it before it disappeared. I thought something would happen to me or even the money. Growing up was not easy; it was an experience and a preparatory phase of my life. It taught me to work hard. I believe more in hard work than in talent.”

Timi Dakolo, Wows at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland

Timi Dakolo performed at the Nigerian Soiree at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland which took place on January 23, 2014.

The artiste performed his inspirational hit single Great Nation; a track that has been touted by most music pundits as the next National Anthem of Nigeria, due to the message it passes across.

Present at the event included President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein; Fidelia Njeze, Aliko Dangote , Tony Elumelu, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT);  Distinguished Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and his wife Aisha, British-Ghanaian top fashion designer Ozwald Boateng, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and many others.

After he was declared winner of the first season of Idols West Africa in 2007, Timi Dakolo has been soaring high with success after success.
Currently working on his second album, Dakolo, in this chat with Vanguard reporter  speaks about the industry, his life, plans, growing up and other issues. Excerpts:

What is happening to you?

I am doing fine. I am doing great. I am working on my second album right now. I am supposed to record a new song with Cobhams this week.  I am trying to make it a collaboration. I’m already in the process of sorting that out now. I am also building my own studio just for the purpose of recording at my convenience.

Over the years, you have been known for a particular genre of music, why is that so?

It is not that I am particular about one genre but I do Soul, RnB, sometimes, a little bit of Reggae and Rock. I basically sing what I feel.

American model Amber Rose arrived Nigeria yesterday for the grand finale of the Miss Earth Nigeria pageant, on which she is a judge. The event will take place this Sunday at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos.
