Lebanese Man Arrested For Faking Nigerian Citizenship

A 42-year-old Lebanese, Rami El Masri, has been charged to court for allegedly forging a letter of Nigerian citizenship confirmation and parading himself as a Nigerian.

According to the police, Masri forged the said Nigerian citizenship confirmation letter with reference number MIA/NAT 382/1 with the intent it might be acted upon as genuine. 

The foreigner was accused of falsely and fraudulently presenting himself as a Nigerian citizen by birth, an act the police said was contrary to and punishable under sections 363 (3)(4)(O), 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011. 

Masri, who was said to own two construction companies along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, was on Thursday arraigned before a Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Igbosere. The three counts pressed against him by the police bordered on conspiracy, forgery and uttering of false documents.

In what seem like a classic case of the hunter becoming the hunted, the police authorities at the Area F Police Command in Lagos has been accused of conniving with a Lebanese simply identified as Alex, one of the managers of Charvet Nigeria Limited, marketers of popular energy drink, Power Horse, to intimidate and harass a Nigerian businessman and driving school operator.

According to Mr. Bode Thomas, an instructor with Steerite Driving School located at Suite D1, 15/16, 72, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, he got a call at about 4.30 am on the 26th of August informing him that a reckless drunken driver had damaged the fence of the complex housing the driving school office and some of the cars packed within the premises.

“I got a call from my colleague at about 4.30am, that the security man of the complex where the driving school is located called to inform him that a car broke the gate of the office complex and damaged the driving school automatic car parked in the complex and that the damage was caused by some drunken Lebanese guys coming back from a night club in company of about three prostitutes.

Abuja Court Strikes Out Terrorism Charges Against Amigo Supermarket Owner, Other Lebanese Supects

An Abuja court has struck out a case of illegal arms importation filed against the co-owner of Amigo Supermarket, Mustapha Fawaz, and three other Lebanese, Channels Television is reporting.

Magistrate Muyiwa Oyeyipo of the Chief Magistrate Court in Karu, an Abuja suburb, stuck out the suit following an application by the prosecutor, Cliff Osagie.

Mr. Fawaz, Talal Roda, Abdulla Tahini, and Kossay Nourdin were charged for terrorism and alleged importation of firearms. The Department of State Security Service, SSS, and the Nigerian Army said they found several arms and ammunition including anti-tank guns in buildings belonging to the Lebanese in Kano. Amigo and Wonderland Amusement Park in Abuja, also owned by Mr. Fawaz, have since been sealed.
