Nigerian Teenager Arrested in Italy for Killing 60-Year-Old Woman

Police in Italy on suspicion of murdering an elderly female citizen has arrested a Nigerian teenager. Donald Nwajiobi, 18, allegedly took the life of 60-year-old Catherine Susca around the city of Bari in Southern Italy. The deceased is believed to have invited homeless Nwajiobi to her residence for a meal when he attacked her and left her lifeless half-clad body with a plastic bag over her head and her skull crushed in her apartment in Torre a Mare.

Nigerian Eye reports:
According to investigations, the death of Catherine Susca was caused by the beating she received in the course of the attack, suffocation with a plastic bag dropped on her head and strangulation with a scarf. The Nigerian boy, Donald Nwajiobi, who lives in Bari but homeless, confessed he killed the woman in self defense after she attacked him with a pair of scissors and he also claimed to have acted alone. However, investigators will verify whether there were accomplices.

Nigerian Law Makers, Highest Paid In The World

The huge and large amount being paid as salary to the country’s legislators, which is ranked the highest in the world, according to a new study, has attracted criticisms from Nigerians across the country, including economists and lawyers. The Economist magazine revealed that Nigerian federal legislators with a basic salary of $189,500 per annum (N30.6m) were the highest paid lawmakers in the world.

Report gave that; the basic salary (which excludes allowances) of a Nigerian lawmaker is 116 times the country’s GDP per person of $1,600. The $189,500 earned annually by each Nigerian legislator is estimated to be 52 per cent higher than what Kenya legislators, who are the second highest paid lawmakers, earned.

Italy's First Black Minister "Victim Of Racism"

The Italian government ordered an investigation on Wednesday into slurs on right-wing websites against the country’s first black minister, a case that has put Italy’s racial problems back in the spotlight. Cecile Kyenge, an eye doctor and Congo-born Italian citizen, was named integration minister in the new government of Prime Minister Enrico Letta last Saturday. She is one of seven women in the government.
Since then, she has been the subject of taunts not only on neo-Fascist websites but was also the butt of race-tinged remarks by a politician of the Northern League, which has been allied in the past with former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Equal opportunities minister Josefa Idem ordered an investigation by the National Anti-Discrimination Office into websites, which called Kyenge a “Congolese monkey,” “Zulu,” “the black anti-Italian,” and other slurs.
