Mother Gives Birth To Twins – With DIFFERENT Fathers

A SHOCKED mum has been told her newborn twins have DIFFERENT fathers.

The woman is thought to have slept with two men during the same ovulation cycle, it is reported.

Tests were carried out on the tots after the "dad" noticed striking dissimilarities between the two babies.

The stunned parents were told only one twin was biologically related to the dad.

But a hospital switch blunder was ruled out as the Vietnam woman is mum to both babies.

Le Dinh Luong, president of the Genetic Association of Vietnam, told AFP the findings were extremely rare.

"Our Centre for Genetic Analysis and Technology lab has tested and found a pair of bi-paternal twins," he said.

"This is rare not only for Vietnam, but for the world."

Twins can have different dads if the mum has sex with two men during the same ovulation period.

The time window in which eggs can be fertilised is small, with sperm cells capable of living inside a woman's body for only four to five days.

The lifespan of a woman's egg, meanwhile, is just 12 to 48 hours.

The exact circumstances surrounding the Vietnamese couple's case are not known.
