Idris Elba Becomes the First Man to Cover Maxim Magazine
Man of the hour! Idris Elba is officially the first man to be featured on the cover of Maxim magazine.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron star, 42, landed the cover of the September issue, becoming the first man to do so after decades of sexy photo shoots with half-naked female models and actresses.
While big stars from Christina Aguilera to Cameron Diaz to Megan Fox have posed for Maxim in lingerie and skimpy getups, Elba is fully clothed on the September cover. Standing in stark contrast to those who came before him, the handsome British actor wears a heavy patterned coat over dark pants.
"Man Up," his cover line appropriately reads. "Idris Elba: Actor, Musician, Racecar Driver, and All-Around Badass."
Inside the issue, Elba remains just as dapper, showing off chic fall styles as he poses in well-cut suits, thick sweaters, and smart jackets. The London-born hunk also gave an interview in a video accompanying the issue release on Tuesday, Aug. 4, acknowledging his milestone cover.
"It's historical," he said. "It's fresh, it marks sort of a new way for the magazine to go."
