BEHEADING-obsessed killer Nicholas Salvador lost his job and turned to drugs and hookers before decapitating an 82-year-old great-gran, it has emerged.
The 6ft heavy built brute stabbed pensioner Palmira Silva to death with a machete in an uncontrollable rampage outside her north London home last September.
Yet yesterday he was cleared of murder on the grounds of insanity.
Friends described how the 25-year-old's attitude changed after he had become Muslim and began watching sick videos online.
“He was looking at the videos of beheadings for weeks. He became obsessed," a friend said yesterday.Salvador was said to have lost his job as a bilboard worker three days before the attack.
And another pal said he was in a "bad place".
They said: “He had never had a girlfriend, he was abusing cocaine and used prostitutes whenever he had the money.”
According to the Sun, Salvador spent hours online researching Jihadi messages after converting to Islam in 2012.
He later turned to Buddhism – but apparently ditched all religion before last September.
Horrifying CCTV footage of Salvador on the run following the sickening attack came to light yesterday after police filmed him from a helicopter
The 14-minute clip was shown to jurors during his two-day trial at the Old Bailey as they were told Salvador believed Mrs Silva was a supernatural entity.
The gripping video showed the large attacker clambering through back gardens and smashing windows and fences along Nightingale Road in Edmonton.
Mrs Silva daughter, Celestina Muis, said her mother's death had devastated the whole family.
She said in a statement: "Palmira had a full life, loving her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was very much the glue that held us all together.
"Our lives have been torn apart knowing what happened to my mother."
Salvador now faces life at Broadmoor high-security psychiatric hospital where he is currently detained.
