Police have apparently set up a perimeter around the rapper's home as reports surface that four people have been injured.
US site TMZ report that police were called after shots had already been fired at the luxury La Gorce property.
Officers have not yet been able to enter the house, which backs on to a deep water canal.
According to a police spokesperson, an anonymous caller indicated that four people at the address have sustained injuries.
The shocking incident comes less than two weeks after authorities were summoned to investigate a suspicious individual lurking nearby.
It's thought that Lil' Wayne is currently in Miami but luckily wasn't at home.
