Couple Torture Their 2 Year Old To Death For Rejecting Breakfast

A Singaporean mother who tortured her two-year-old son to death for not eating his breakfast and disobeying her was jailed along with her boyfriend on Tuesday for what the court described as the couple’s “senseless brutality”.

District Judge Bala Reddy cited the “ruthless and unrelenting” violence in the case and the couple’s lack of remorse before handing down an 11-year term for 41-year-old mother Zaidah, who goes by one name.

Her boyfriend, Zaini Jamari, 46, was jailed for 10 years and sentenced to 12 lashes of the cane.

A Corporal in the Nigerian Army (name withheld) formerly serving with the Joint Task Force, JTF, in Rivers State on Wednesday shot and killed himself in what his colleagues described as suicide over Boko Haram members gruesome murder of his parents and two children in Yobe State, North-Eastern Nigeria.

The soldier according to source was attached to the Abonima Command of the JTF, who are in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria to check the tide of various organized crimes in the area, including kidnappings, crude oil bunkering among others.

The dead soldier according to the source received the news of the killings of his immediate family members Tuesday through a relation  based in Damaturu, Yobe State capital.

The Vanguard News Papers is reporting that a baby looked frail and sleepy, crying profusely under the scorching sun. He started vomitting at a time but the mother was without a wrapper to cover him or a handkerchief to clean him up. The nursing mother who claimed to be 16 held her son firmly, although an experienced mother could easily deduce that she was a novice in nursing a baby.

Even traders and passersby could not help but wonder aloud what a girl of her age was doing at that spot under the scorching sun. But as soon as she spotted this reporter, she intensified  gestures that suggested she was there for serious business. ‘’E saanu mi nitori Olorun, a ni’lo owo lati jeun ni...’’(Help me for God’s sake, we need money to feed ourselves…), she appealed in Yoruba Language.

Vanguard Metro’s subsequent  chat with the 16-year-old nursing mother which lasted several hours revealed that she is a product of a broken home and that she got pregnant at the age of 15.  Also, she escaped a rape attempt by some street urchins, popularly called Area Boys based in Oshodi.
