NYSC Has Not Been Scrapped - Presidency

The federal government has denied scrapping the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

There were reports that the scheme, which was established since 1975 by then Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd), has been scrapped by President Muhammadu Buhari, alongside post-UMTE.

However, the presidency described the story as unfounded and legally illogical.

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba, has released a statement refuting the report. Read the statement below:

Female Corper Banned From NYSC Camp After Refusing To Wear Trousers

A Female corps member, Miss Tolutope Ekundayo, has been prohibited from participating in the ongoing orientation programme in the Ogun State NYSC camp for allegedly refusing to wear trousers – Imagine that!!!

Ekundayo, who spoke with reporters after a press conference organised by the General Overseer, Faith Revival Apostolic Church, Apostle Paul Adenuga in Lagos, said she was thrown out of the camp.

According to Ekundayo, females wearing trousers contravened her Christian belief – oh so other female Christians in the camp have two heads, right?
