Egypt Jails 11 Men for Three to 12 Years For Homosexuality

An Egyptian court has sentenced 11 men accused of homosexuality to jail terms from between three and 12 years.

The defendants were arrested in a flat September last year. The court convicted them of 'debauchery and incitement to debauchery', the charges generally used to prosecute alleged homosexuals in Egypt as the law does not formally prohibit same-sex relations.

Late on Sunday, it sentenced three of them to 12 years, three to nine years, one to six years and four to three years. Egypt's use of the debauchery (excessive indulgence in sex, alcohol, or drugs) law to prosecute and jail gay men has drawn condemnation from human rights groups.

Egyptian Boy, Aged 4 Sentenced To Life in Prison For Committing ''Murder' When He Was One

An Egyptian court has sentenced a four-year-old boy to life in prison for committing four 'murders' when he was only one and a half years old,the Jerusalem Post reports.

Ahmed Mansour Karni was convicted in absentia of four counts of murder, eight of attempted murder, vandalising property, disturbance of peace and threatening police officers.

The boy was part of a list of 115 defendants who were all given life sentences at a military court in Cairo for crimes committed on 3 January 2014 in the province of Fayoum, 70km south of Cairo.

Ahmed's name was added to the list by mistake but the court refused to accept documents proving his age, according to the boy's lawyers.

Egypt Teen's Grisly Death in Alexandria Stirs Outcry

In the political unrest after the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi, Muslim Brotherhood supporters throw three teenage boys off a roof, killing one.
As Muslim Brotherhood supporters rained stones and birdshot on demonstrators huddled at the opposite end of a busy street, Hamada Badr raced to the roof of a six-story apartment block to get a better view.
Some said 17-year-old Hamada and three teenage friends lobbed rocks at the pro-Brotherhood mob below. His friends denied this. But there is little dispute about what happened next.
Several Islamists chased after them, reached the roof and, to the horror of onlookers, threw three of the teens off the building in quick succession. Two fell 20 feet from a water tower to the main roof below and survived with injuries. A third escaped by clambering down a water pipe along the side of the building. But Hamada plummeted all the way to the ground, dying of severe internal bleeding at a hospital shortly afterward, friends said.
