BRAZEN drug smugglers offload heavy bundles of cannabis resin on a packed Spanish beach in this amazing video.
Local and tourists look on in astonishment as several burly men transport the drugs from a Zodiac to a waiting van while they enjoy lunch at a beach bar.
The smugglers walk casually up and down the sand between the boat and the transit as they bring onto dry land an estimated 2,000 kilos of cannabis resin worth around £6 million on the streets of Britain.
The shocking scenes occurred around 1.30pm on Saturday on the Costa del Sol beach of Tubalita in Manilva near Estepona, a popular area for British holidaymakers and expats.
The video emerged just three months after traffickers were filmed stopping their speedboat on the shoreline a stone’s throw from Gibraltar so they could offload 1,500 kilos of cannabis resin.
Last night a police union claimed the traffickers were acting with impunity because they were being starved of resources.
A spokesman for the Spanish Association of Civil Guards (AEGC) said: “We are concerned to make sure that these incidents, while they are happening more and more frequently, are kept in the news.
“Time and time again we will criticise the lack of Civil Guard officers, the lack of material means, appropriate vehicles for each work station tailored to the characteristics of the area they are being used, as well as demanding greater security in officers’ everyday work.”
After the previous video emerged the union claimed it feel impotent seeing how criminal gangs smuggled drugs day after day without worrying about the lives of civil guards or members of the public.
On both occasions none of the onlookers bothered calling police - with some opting instead to film the scenes with their mobiles and load the videos onto social networking sites.
Spain is the gateway into Europe for cannabis and cocaine, part of the reason why the Costas have attracted such a high number of British fugitives who see the black market trade as a way of earning money while they are on the run.
Cocaine floods into Spain - directly or indirectly via Africa - from south America.
Cannabis resin comes from Morocco, which is just nine miles from Spain at its narrowest point in the Straits of Gibraltar.
