Marina and Irina Fabrizio are identical
twins who are so close they can paint together for hours without even
communicating.
The two women, who are originally from
Kazakhstan but now live in Germany, work in perfect harmony to create
amazing landscapes.
One focuses on painting shadows – a
difficulty for Irina – while the other focuses on different things.
Irina told the BBC: ‘We always painted
separately and my weakness has always been painting shadows. So much so that I
tried to avoid it. My sister never had this problem, she has different weak
points.’
She added: ‘We have found each other in
the shadow and we have been united in the light.’
The sisters have just graduated from
Dusseldorf’s Academy of Arts and while they initially started painting on their
own, they soon realised they preferred painting on the same canvas.
Now the paintings they create use a
technique called ‘glazing’ which is a two-person job on artworks of the size
they make. Their work cannot be created alone.
