When a doctor saved the life of a premature baby, he would have never imagined that the favour would be returned more than 30 years later.
But that’s exactly what happened to a doctor in America, after he was trapped inside a burning car.
Dr William Shannon, a paediatrician, was trapped inside the car in 2011 when he was rescued by a team that included Chris Trokey, an Orange County Fire Authority paramedic.
However, when Chris visited the hospital where Dr.Shannon spent 45 days recovering from internal injuries, the paediatrician soon realised that he had actually saved Chris’ life 30 years earlier.
Chris was born weighing only 3.2 pounds and was given only a 50 percent chance of survival, before he was saved by Dr.Shannon, KTLA reports.
Speaking after the pair met once again at a recent fundraising event, Dr Shannon said: ‘It’s amazing to watch them all grow up, but to have one come back in your life, on a day you really need it, that’s really incredible’.
In a final twist to the story, Chris has since become the father to a young son, and his paediatrician is none other than Dr.Shannon.
