Video: WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT: Shocking Moment Train Smashes Into Straying Car, Killing Two

THE horrific moment a freight train obliterates a car crossing the tracks – leaving two dead – was caught on camera by two trainspotters.

Railway fans were videoing the freight train when the train driver sounded the horn on approach to the barrier-less crossing .
One of the two bystanders admiring the engine, pulling a mile of wagons, waves to the driver when suddenly the saloon tried to make it over the line.
It was hit squarely side on by the speeding locomotive – with the windows exploding, the bodywork crumbling and the doors folding.
The mangled wreckage pushed for half a mile while the braking engine comes to a halt.

The driver and the driver's side rear passenger of the white Toyota Camry died and the two other occupants suffered life-threatening injures.
The impact was caught on camera from two different angles by the trainspotters.
Dwight Mitchell, of Louisville Metro Police, said the railroad crossing does not have gates but motorists are warned by flashing light and an alarm bell*.

It happened at just after 4pm on Sunday.
No-one onboard the train was injured and the two survivors were taken to a local hospital.
