Father-To-Be Crushed To Death By Parking Barrier

A young man eagerly awaiting the birth of his first child was crushed to death by a parking barrier recently.
Will Page, 22, died just one day after being told by girlfriend Rachael Cross that he was going to become a dad.
The ‘car fanatic’ was driving out of an industrial estate in Derbyshire when a parking barrier swung into the windshield of his van on Saturday, trapping him in the vehicle before crushing him to death.
Ms Cross said she was ‘devastated’ by the news of her partner’s death.
‘He was brilliant with kids and would have been a great dad,’ she added.

Mr Page was such a keen car enthusiast and so respected within the community that the day after his death a procession of 90 cars drove by his house beeping their horns, before driving to the place he died to lay flowers and notes of condolence.
His father, Brian, said: ‘From front to back, the cars went on for two-and-a-half miles. I stood outside and watched them all come past. He would have been over the moon with that.
Brian added that ‘being a father was everything [Will] wanted’.
A spokeswoman from the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance said that Will ‘suffered significant chest injuries and, despite the best efforts of our critical care paramedics, we were unable to resuscitate him’.
The spokesman said: ‘We are not sure how it happened. The barrier went through the windshield and crushed him.’
