A couple searched ‘how people got caught after bank robberies’ on Google shortly before a botched heist in which they managed to take just £400, police said.
Kody Davis, 33, and Amanda Davis, 31, allegedly made plans to rob the Great Western Bank in Fort Collins, Colorado, after losing all their savings gambling in Texas.
And police said that Amanda had done a number of Google searches on her phone to prepare for the alleged heist, including ‘how people got caught after bank robberies’.
When the pair entered the Colorado bank, Amanda allegedly passed the cashier a note reading: ‘Take money out and put it in the bag.’ After reportedly making off with just $597 (£401), the police were called.
Police caught up with the pair when they ran over road spikes.
The couple were charged with criminal conspiracy, robbery and theft. The driver was also charged with vehicular eluding and reckless driving.
