This Woman Donated A Kidney To A Stranger – And Now He’s Won Her Heart Too

Perhaps they were just destined to be together?
This is the seriously heartwarming story of Ashley McIntyre and Danny Robinson from Louisville.
Danny was diagnosed with with IgA nephropathy at the age of 16, a condition which inflames and gradually damages the kidneys.
By 25, he had been undergoing dialysis for two years – three days a week, four hours a day – and was on the list for a transplant.
So, in January 2014 Danny’s mum went on Louisville radio appealing for possible donors.
Listening that day was Ashley’s mum – she told her daughter about it, who was deeply moved by the story. ‘He was so young and had lost his father to cancer’, Ashley told USA Today. ‘It was devastating.’
The next day, Ashley got in touch with the show via Facebook offering her kidney.

Ashley and Danny did all the tests and found they were a match – in more ways than one. Ashley says of meeting Danny and his family: ‘We all clicked immediately. They told me I would always be a part of their family.’ Danny’s family gave her a jewellery box inscribed with ‘Ashley, you’re an angel.’
Dr. Malay Shah performed the two surgeries on April 17.
When they got out of hospital, they stayed in touch and eventually began dating on Memorial Day – May 26. ‘It was really clear early on that this was ‘it,” Ashley says.
Just a few months later, she fell pregnant – the baby is due on June 9. And then on Christmas Day, Danny proposed.
Ashley admits: ‘It was a whirlwind. It’s just crazy how it all worked out.’
We’ve definitely got something in our eye.
