There’s no
need to let post-holiday blues get you down — not when Beyoncé has given us all
yet another visual present. (Technically, the clip was released Dec. 25 — but
you spent that day spending time with friends and family instead of trolling
the Internet for new Beyoncé videos, right? Riiight?)
This latest
clip is the third installment in Bey’s introspective “mini art feature”
“Self-Titled,” which goes behind the scenes of the diva’s record-breaking
surprise album — er, “details Beyoncé’s mind-set and artistic vision throughout
the making of the entire project.”
Part 3, “Run
‘N Gun,” focuses on a trio of tracks: “Drunk on Love,” the one about how great
it is to share a marital bed with Jay-Z; “No Angel,” which boasts a gritty
video shot in Houston’s Third and Fourth Wards; and “Yoncé,”
the one about Queen B’s fiercer-than-Sasha-Fierce new alter ego. Beyoncé also
uses it to explain her whole album’s general aura and strategy: “It’s been
interesting the last few videos — we’ve been like, deciding what we’re going to
do as we’re there,” she says. “And there’s something about that freedom that is
different for me, ’cause I usually plan things. I’m trying to rebel against
perfection.”
See the
rebellion — plus Beyoncé stalking across a beach at night wearing a bathing
suit and carrying a trophy, as you do — below.
