Bukola Elemide popularly known as Asa is still
battling a court case that has been on for a while. The case before Justice Coker was to be heard when her
star witness, Damilola Amolegbe was said to have declined being called as a witness,
telling Asa’s lawyers from Abraham Chambers that she couldn’t be a witness in
Asa’s matter. Having granted the music star much indulgence in the
matter, the trial Judge then ordered that the case be closed and called for
written address of the two parties. Asa’s first witness, Taiwo Olakunle of HiTv was
suddenly dropped at the earlier trial stage when she was confronted with hard
evidences.
Meanwhile her manager Janet Nwose, who was alleged to
be having affair with Asa did not come up as a witness which has remained
baffling and suspicious to legal experts.
How it all started:
It would be recalled that Asa and her manager, Janet
Nwose had a suit against the publishers of a Lagos-based magazine, ‘News of the
People’ sometime last year. They urged the court to declare that the statement
and picture in the December 14-22 edition of the magazine, entitled “Lesbianism
Tale Trails Asa and Manager” was defamatory. Asa wants the court to declare that the allegation of
lesbianism against her and Janet is false, illegal and a violation of their
rights.
They are also asking the court to restrain the
defendant from further publication of what they described as malicious
statements against them, adding that the alleged defamatory statement was
calculated to discredit and malign them in their ‘unblemished’ career as
international music artists with high moral standing, which they have
consistently conveyed in their songs.
why are people so close minded? even if she is lesbian, how is that anyone's business? that is the problem with Nigeria forcing people to live a lie. is being a lesbian mean you're not of high moral standing? even the bible said the greatest commandant is 'love', so who are these so called 'journalists' defining how one should fall in love and to whom? close minded, petty people!
ReplyDeletethe only thing that should matter is her ability and her music. people get a life, look at your own life and write about things that matters and make a difference to us as Nigerians and make our great nation greater
You amaze me with your response, there is no excuse for a personality of her standards to default the laws guiding a land. If she can't stay away from this actions, then let her go to a place where her is more permissible. Even the bible says "obey the laws of the land and thy leaders". I'm sorry but I do not conform to ur act of not condemning her actions. I do not claim saint either, but I'm strongly willed against such dastardly practiced act. Let's be wise. I c no way how applauding this act endorses the growth of a nation. My view, I love Asa, I love her music, but I strongly condemn her actions.
ReplyDeleteThis article is stupid. How can you title an article "Asa faces lesbianism charges in court," when Asa is the one doing the suing? Do you understand English at all? Facing charges suggests that the case was brought against her, which is simply not the case. Gosh. 3 minutes of my life I'll never get back. The things you bloggers do for page views.
