DailyPost Metro can confirm that
at least, two people were killed while many others suffered various level of
injuries in a fatal road mishap, which occurred at Maryland Bus Stop, Ikeja,
Lagos, on Friday.
The tragic incident, according to
an eyewitness involved a commuter bus, popularly known as Danfo, with
registration number Lagos, KRD 583 XC, and a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) marked
109.
The witness said that the
accident was as a result of over-speeding on the part of the commercial bus
driver.
A LASTMA official, who pleaded
anonymity, also said that the commercial bus was speeding, while it rammed into
a faulty BRT bus which was parked on the lane, and about to be towed away.
According to him, about two
passengers were killed, while many others were injured.
Meanwhile, Governor Rauf
Aregbesola, who was on his way to Osogbo, Osun State, stopped at the scene of
the accident, ordering his security men and other officials in his convoy to
pull out those trapped in the vehicles.
Aregbesola also ordered that the
victims be taken to the hospital in an ambulance and another vehicle, which
were part of his convoy.
The Governor personally led the
accident victims to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where
he pleaded with the officials to immediately attend to them.
