How I Beat Dubai Security to Steal N10.5m Gold – Suspect

According to the Sun Newspapers: Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, at the Lagos State police command has re-arrested a 39-year-old man, Hakeem Oguniran, who for the past 11 years, has successfully defrauded several Nigerians with the use of his special weapon, Raphnor a sleeping  tablet.
Embittered but inspired by a past experience, he managed to evade being jailed despite several arrests. He went international when he was alleged to have successfully stolen N10.5 million worth of gold trinket from a Dubai shopping mall. Humbled at the police detention, he told Saturday Sun his life story.

Hakeem claimed that he drew his inspiration from a prostitute who drugged and robbed him in 2003. “After my secondary education, as an only son, my mother wanted me to travel to Europe in search of greener pastures. My immediate family, friends and relatives raised N800,000 for me. I had already procured my passport, visa and ticket for the trip.

Are We Entertainers Socially Irresponsible - Etcetera

I got a call on Wednesday morning from one of our popular female artistes asking if she could be a guest on my radio show to promote her new album that is meant for release this month. I said, “Why not? It will be my privilege to have you on my show.” As we talked on, I tried chipping in a little advice that it might not be a good idea releasing an album in the middle of an ebola crisis; suggesting that right now people might be too worried and preoccupied with the ebola scare to care about a new album. I told her she would stand the risk of being branded insensitive for dropping her album at a time the country is having a crisis of some sort.
I went on thinking I could convince her to postpone the album release to a time when she can easily get people’s attention. But she wouldn’t hear of it. She said “Bros forget dat tin abeg, Naija no dey send tins like dat. After all, Dorobucci was released on the day of the second Nyanya bomb blast and just after three weeks of the first blast? Why didn’t they call it insensitive or irresponsible?”

Fani Kayode has reacted to the calamity resulting from late Patrick Sawyer's visit to Nigeria. Last week, pres.Jonathan referred to him as a crazy man. This is what Mr Kayode wrote on Facebook

I disagree with those who have described Patrick Sawyer as a madman. He was not mad at all but just evil. He was a man that was on a mission. That mission was to spread the ebola virus to Nigeria and to infect and kill as many people as possible with it.He was an evil man with an evil intention and purpose. Worst still he was not working alone. Some people, and I mean rich, powerful and well-connected people, were working with him.(continue)....

Nigeria Ranks As The Worst Country in Africa with Highest Number of People Enslaved

Nigeria has been described as the country with the largest population in Africa and having more people enslaved or living below the poverty line according to a report by The Global Slavery Index.

Despite massive oil reserves and recent plans for rapid socio-economic development, about 60% of the Nigerian population lives at, or below the poverty line with the average income at US$1 per day. This widespread poverty, rabid urbanization, exponential population growth coupled with the lack of enforcement of legal instruments and high levels of crime and corruption increases the vulnerability of Nigerians – particularly children – to various forms of modern slavery, both within and outside the borders of Nigeria. Child labour is also an issue, where high levels of poverty and unemployment means children are more likely to be forced to work to outside their family network to support themselves and their family.

Ebola Outbreak's: Deaths & Confirmed Cases 'Vastly Underestimated'

The number of deaths and confirmed cases of Ebola in west Africa has been vastly underestimated, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has said.

The death toll from the outbreak currently stands at 1,069 people. There have been 1,975 confirmed, probable or suspected cases.

The majority of the cases have occurred in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia. Four deaths have also been reported in Nigeria.

But the WHO said there was evidence that the number of reported cases underestimated the scale of the suffering.

"The outbreak is expected to continue for some time. WHO's operational response plan extends over the next several months," it said in a statement.

She added that Williams' family hoped others would use his tragic death to seek help "to treat whatever battles they are facing so they may feel less afraid".

Ebola Victims Quarantined Lack Care - Relations

Relations of those who have been quarantined at the Lagos Ebola centre have said the victims are not adequately taken care of. While speaking with Premium Times today, one of the relations that do not want his name published so that his relation won’t be victimized said, they go as far as buying antiseptic liquid and toiletries for them to make use of. He said a lot that would shock you.

I know the State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola has visited this place and even said the victims are well taken care of, and for so many reasons I believe him and know he would never allow any family member to buy things as cheap as toiletries for their relations to make use of especially at this critical time. So when I saw the story I decided to bring it here, so that the Governor can read and investigate.

Below is what the relation told Premium Times:

Ironically, the film she was shooting, when the incident occurred, ‘The Voice’, had a scene where she was kidnapped by a gunman. The movie was premiered in Lagos early July 2014.

Jim Iyke Shares Thoughts on Successful Women & Why Men Are Scared of Them

"Women are like apples on trees, the best ones are on the top of the tree. The men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and don't want to get hurt. Instead they get the cold manipulating easier climbs. So, the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality they are amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top becuase they value quality away from d spotlight. #bae #angeleyes
