School Boy With An Arm And A Leg Becomes FootBall Star

A YOUNG goalkeeper is making a name for himself despite having only one arm and one leg.

Football-mad Thomas Atkinson, 12, plays for his school team and even captains the Year Seven side.
The brave lad was born without his left hand and had to have his left leg amputated as a one-year-old as his foot had not developed properly.
But he has fought back to take his place between the sticks for Richard Rose Morton Academy in Carlisle, Cumbria.

Thomas, who supports Premier League giants Liverpool, yesterday said: "I just love playing football.

"I play all the time with friends out and about, even when I haven't got training for school or my local team.
"It feels natural to me and I'm fine keeping up with everyone else, I've never had problems."

His proud dad Gary, 52, added: "Thomas comes from a family of football fans and was a natural when he started playing.
“Because it feels more natural to him to play without a prosthetic arm, he doesn't use one.
"Thomas doesn't even bother with a left arm as he doesn't need it to do well – he's got a sportsman's brain, anyway.
