British-American actor and model Sam Sarpong passed on on Monday, Oct. 26, taking his own life by leaping from a bridge. He was 40 at the time of his death.
Sarpong was known for many bit parts be played on shows like Bones, Cold Case, 24, and Everybody Hates Chris, among others. But he was perhaps best known as a co-host on MTV’s Yo Momma alongside Wilmer Valderrama. Sarpong was also a the face Tommy Hilfiger for several years.
US Weekly: “It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel Sarpong Jr. must share the news that Sam has passed away,” his family said in a statement via his rep. “The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation and no additional details are known at this time.
… The famikly appreciates the thoughts and prayers and other expressions of sympathy, and request that privacy be respected at this extremely difficult time.” The statement also noted that final arrangements are forthcoming.According to a news release from the Pasadena Police Department, a witness called law enforcement on Monday morning after seeing a man standing outside of the bridge railing. Officers and firefighters communicated with him for hours, but he ultimately jumped to his death.
