A couple whose sex tape made a Uniqlo
changing room a very popular place are among a group of five people who have
been arrested.
The couple
filmed themselves having sex in the changing rooms of the fashion brand’s
flagship store in Beijing. As a result, fans started swarming to the shop to
take selfies and there’s even a t-shirt that’s been made using a screengrab.
The couple were
arrested on Wednesday night, according to a report on Beijing Television.
The channel
said: ‘Five people were taken away by police including the man and woman who
played the main role.
‘The police
investigation has two main parts: who published this unsavoury video, and was
it an example of hype by the business (Uniqlo).’
China’s online
regulator the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said late Wednesday that
distributing the footage was ‘against socialist core values’.
At first it’s
unclear where the quickie is taking place. Then a voice on the intercom is
heard saying: ‘Dear customers, welcome to the Uniqlo store at Sanlitun. There
are no fitting rooms on the first floor. Please proceed to the second and third
floor if you need to try clothes on.’
Fact: Sex sells.
And the store is enjoying an increase in customers, reports CNN.
But Uniqlo
has denied any involvement.
A spokesperson
said: ‘As a responsible international brand, Uniqlo is dedicated to providing
consumers with safe, comfortable and quality shopping experiences and
locations.
‘We would like
to remind all customers to abide by society’s moral standard and properly and
appropriately use our fitting rooms.’
