DIY Disaster As Man Hit In Face By Angle Grinder

A MAN whose face was ripped apart by an angle grinder in an horrific accident has thanked the doctors for saving his life.

The man, who did not wish to be named, was building a garden summerhouse when the power tool got caught and bounced back into his face.
Talking about the accident in the Romanian town of Tautii-Magheraus he said he thought he was "going to die".
"I was working holding it with just one hand," he said. "When it suddenly got stuck on something and bounced back – grinding me in the face.
"It was incredibly painful, I grabbed a towel and tried to stop it bleeding – but it made no difference."

The man told his wife to call an ambulance.

He added: "I told her to keep talking to me to keep me awake – I thought I was going to die."
Doctors at the County Hospital in the city of Baia Mare managed to save his life.
He also added: "I have nothing but respect for the doctors that save my life, and gave me back my face.
"I should end up regaining most of my good looks."
Dr Ovidiu Rotaru was involved in the five-hour operation to sew up the injured man's face.
He said: "The angle grinder damaged both of his eyes, as well as slicing through his nose and the left maxillary sinus.
"Because the blade had also severed his facial artery there was a lot of blood."
The man had now recovered full function of his right eye, left eye and sinuses, doctors said.
