Teacher Donates KIDNEY To One Of Her Students

A TEENAGE pupil has returned to school with a new kidney, donated by her gym teacher.

A’Ja Booth, 18, walked arm in arm with Nadirah Muhammad down a red carpet into the school gymnasium as pupils threw confetti and cheered.
For four years A'Ja had left the Westside Academy High School in Detroit, Michigan, early three times a week to undergo painful kidney dialysis.
She began to write a book about her experiences and when the 39-year-old gym teacher overheard her talking about it, she wanted to help.
"After I read her story, I immediately decided that I wanted to volunteer to donate one of my kidneys," Nadirah said.

"If that was my child, I would want someone to do the same. It was a no-brainer."

In December 2014 the operation went ahead and one of the saintly teacher's kidneys was removed and rushed to an operating table at Children's Hospital of Michigan, where the teen was waiting.
"I’ve had a lot of combinations, but I don’t know about student-teacher," surgeon Jason Denny said.
The transplant was a success and A'Ja says she is happy and healthy and looking forward to her future.
"I’m blessed and I’m thankful," she told fellow students.
A'Ja finishes school in June and plans to attend university to study to be a nurse.
"We expect nothing but grand and glorious things for you," Westside Academy’s Principal Andrea Ayler told her.
