A 60-year-old man, one Musa Sule,
believed to be a person of unsound mind, last Saturday, at Sabonngari, Sade in
Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, suddenly went berserk and stabbed
a two-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl to death.
The incident, according to a statement from DSP Haruna
Mohammed, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in charge of the Bauchi
State Police Command, happened at about 4:20pm, when the deranged man picked a
knife and started stabbing everyone on sight.
“One Musa Sule, 60 years, male, of Sabon garin, Sade in
Darazo Local Government Area believed to be a person of
unsound mind, suddenly went on rampage, picked a knife and started stabbing
everyone on sight. As a result, the following persons were killed by the
suspect, Ilawisa Abdullahi, female, 2-year-old and Ummi Saidu female 12 years
old,” the statement read in part.
Adding that the suspect further injured Ilu Masani and
Hassan Garba, while he almost slit the throat of a six-month-old female baby,
Maryam Disu.
The PPRO, however, informed newsmen that police detectives attached to Darazo division who visited the scene of the incident, arrested the suspect and rushed the victims to the Darazo General Hospital in Darazo,the headquarters of the Local Government Area.
While saying that the police were investigating the matter, DSP Mohammed, stated that the remains of deceased were released to their parents after autopsy on application for burial according to Islamic rites.
