Madonna seems to have a penchant for the outlandish dating back to the
early stages of her career to even more recent outbursts. The latest for the
pop diva involves her using the N-word on an Instagram post while giving her
teenage son props and bashing critics for her use of the slur.
This morning (January 18), the 55-year-old entertainer posted a photo
of her 13-year-old son, Rocco, during a MMA-styled workout. The caption read,
“No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disn---a,” and
naturally a flood of comments starting flying in on the post. Some folks even
went to defend Madonna's use of the term, but instead of apologizing the singer
delivered more choice words.
“Ok let me start this again. #get off of my d--k haters!” wrote Madonna in response to the social media backlash, attaching the same picture that featured the controversial statement from before. According to Eonline.com, Madonna realized the folly of her words and apologized in a statement on Instagram that seems to have disappeared.
From Eonline.com:
"I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N-word on Instagram," the singer said in a statement on Saturday, Jan. 18. "It was not meant as a racial slur...I am not a racist." She added: "There's no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention...It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white. I appreciate that it's a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me."
