Oprah Winfrey's Yard Sale Ends In A Six-Figure Turnout

Fetching quite the pretty penny for all of her old trinkets, media mogul Oprah Winfrey raked in an estimated $600,000, according to reports on Sunday (November 3). The 59-year-old's "epic yard sale" took place on Saturday, and reports state that 10% of the total earnings, translating to $60,000, was spent on a set of six 18th-century Louis XVI armchairs with hand-embroidered details.
The Los Angeles Times also reported that many run-of-the-mill items sold for extravagant prices, simply because customers wanted to own items that had once belonged to the former talk show host.

Some of said items included a set of Crystal lamp bases that were expected to fetch $200-$400, and went instead for $2,500, and two 13-ft. long sofas, upholstered in crushed velvet with roped fringe, bought for an impressive $8,750.
