Lagos Fashion & Design Week (LFDW) 23rd to 26th October 2013

It's about that time of the year, for one of the biggest fashion events worldwide: Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) wrestled the title sponsorship of the Lagos Fashion and Design Week from MTN Nigeria, promising to make it bigger, and better. The fashion week is scheduled for the 23rd to 26th October 2013.

Founders of Lagos Fashion and Design Week, Style House Files will host the Fashion Business Series on October 24th by 9am at Ocean View in collaboration with GTBank in order to facilitate conversations between key stakeholders in the Nigerian and Pan African fashion industry as a useful tool for exchanging ideas, networking and developing the industry.

Olusegun Aganga (Minister of Industry), and Olusegun Agbaje (CEO, GTBank) will be speaking at this year's edition of the Fashion Business Series which will take place on the 24th of October at Ocean View, Eko Hotel. Sim Shagaya of Konga.com, Folake Folarin-Coker of Tiffany Amber, and Style House Files' own Omoyemi Akerele will also be speaking at this first edition of the series that can be registered for by professionals in the fashion industry via email: info@stylehousefiles.com with a registration fee of N10,000.

Activities preceding, and in preparation of the LFDW 2013 have been underway for several weeks now. Various young designers have been screened and the very best of them shortlisted for the Young Designer of the Year Award who were then trained in Master Classes by British Council for a week to enhance their design skills towards their competition during Lagos Fashion & Design Week, where one designer will be crowned the Young Designer of the Year.

The British Council also hosted filmmakers interested in exploring fashion as a theme in September, in a fashion film workshop facilitated by Grace Ladoja. Model castings too have also been held earlier in the month of October, in order to pool in the top models to Lagos in preparation for the Fashion week.

In no particular order, designers who will be participating in this year's edition of the LFDW include:
