Gov. Imoke Unveils 2013 Carnival Calabar Theme, Says It Represent Nigeria’s 2nd Biggest Brand

Expectedly like a yearly ritual, the 2013 Carnival Calabar Theme has been unveiled to kick off the 2013 Carnival Program.
The theme which is ‘Ain’t No Stopping Us’ was unveiled by the Cross River State Governor Senator Liyel Imoke at the main bowl of the Cultural Center Calabar last night.
Speaking during the unveiling, the governor said, Calabar Carnival has come to stay as a brand which is making Cross River State and Nigeria a destination for others to copy.
Imoke said Cross River State is proud of the brand known worldwide, stressing that aside Nollywood, Carnival Calabar is the next brand known internationally from Nigeria.

The governor said the 2013 edition of the Carnival will be bigger and better with much more coverage to for viewers globally.
“With or without the governor supporting it, with or without the government standing behind it, the people of Cross River State will stand behind it and because the people of Cross River State stand behind it as well as Nigeria, it will continue to be a global brand.
“We are produced in Nigeria and I believe after Nollywood, I’m correct if I say Carnival Calabar is the second biggest brand in Nigeria.
“It’s the only brand that where ever you go to, they ask you of. If you go to Kenya, London, Caribbeans and America, what they ask you of is Carnival Calabar.
“Aside the Carnival the only thing they ask you from Nigeria is Nollywood.
“So for us we have a lot to give and this event is the opening of what we call the greatest show in Africa and I believe I’m correct because we have not seen any other show like Carnival Calabar in the whole of Africa.
“And it is unique because we have representation from different parts of the word today.
“What makes it unique is because this particular one is design by us, choreographed by us, costumed by us and it is a reflection of us. But the people who made this happen is you guys of which without there will be no picture.
“And so the praise goes to you and that is why when we constituted the carnival commission we appointed those who have passion and desire to drive the carnival vision.
“We cannot have a carnival without a theme and that is why we are here because every carnival has a theme to match the season and see the carnival grow from year to year. Since the carnival started every carnival has been better and well attended and marketed than the previous ones.
“I was personally fulfilled last year because in my absence, the carnival was exciting because of you because it was been televised all over the world.
“What we expect in December 2013 is a definition and expression of the theme and interpretation of that designed to create in our mind that we can overcome everything.” he said.
