Iconic Comic Book The Beano: Reunites Beckham & Sir Alex For 75th Anniversary Issue

Dennis the Menace gets the hairdryer! Fergie blasts Beckham and Beano star as ex-United duo appear in anniversary comic.

We've all heard of Roy of the Rovers, but now The Beano have issued their own take on the sports-star comic genre.

David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson are among a star-studded cast who appear in the 75th anniversary issue of the iconic comic book.

Publishers DC Thomson have released a sneak peak into the newest edition, which goes on sale on Wednesday.

In 'Dennis the Menace and Gnasher and David Beckham!', prospective buyer Beckham is being shown around a home in Beanotown by the comic's most famous character, Dennis the Menace.

Beckham asks the undercover Dennis - who is wearing glasses and a brown blazer over his signature red-and-black-striped shirt - what the neighbours are like, not knowing it is his former manager Ferguson.
Ferguson has a bone to pick with Dennis, claiming the house he'd bought from the rascal already belongs to someone else. The 71-year-old Scot then launches into one of his signature 'hairdryer' tirades, screaming at both Beckham and Dennis from his window.
The retired coach then launches from a bazooka at the pair, The Beano writers mischievously referencing an incident when Ferguson reportedly kicked a boot at Beckham's head in 2003.
The Beano editor-in-chief Mike Stirling said: 'David Beckham features quite a lot in the anniversary issue and I think that the strip with David Beckham and Sir Alex Ferguson is brilliant.
'Dennis is up to his usual menacing and the results are hilarious. It pokes fun at their history in a lighthearted way and, of course, it's all meant in jest.
'We listen to what our readers say and feature people that they want to read about. I think that the anniversary issue is possibly the most celeb-packed issue we have ever produced.
'Seventy-five years of The Beano is a landmark worth celebrating and we hope that it appeals to readers of all ages.'
Wimbledon winner Andy Murray, his mother Judy, Simon Cowell and Will.I.Am all appear in the forthcoming issue.
