4 Feared Dead In University Of Benin Cult War

No fewer than four persons, including students of the University of Benin and commercial bus drivers have been killed and many others injured in a raging cult war that started last week in Benin. Sources said one of the injured identified as Snazzy, a 200 level Mathematics student, was shot in the neck inside the university main campus at Ugbowo during a biometric verification exercise.
He was later rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), where he is receiving treatment. Two others, whose identities could not be ascertained as at press time, were reportedly shot dead at an off-campus hostel of the university.
Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Harris Osarenren, confirmed the attack on the Mathematics student, adding that he was recuperating in hospital. Among those feared dead in the cult war was a community leader in Ova, Egor Local Government Area of Edo State. It was gathered that the cultists traced the deceased, simply identified as Odigie, to his home.
In another attack, a boy was shot in a restaurant at Ogbelaka in the capital city. When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Moses Eguaveon, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said some arrests have been made in connection with the killings.
