Woolwich Attack: Lee Rigby Named as Victim


Lee Rigby, 25, The British soldier hacked down yesterday in broad day light by two Islamist fanatics has been identified.  Rigby had recently fought in Afghanistan and was a recruit officer at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, south-east London, in front of where he was ran down by a car on the pavement and hacked to death by the two men.

One of the men, believed to be Michael Adebolajo, was arrested after he went to Somalia to join banned Islamist group al Ahabaab. Adebolajo,  is said to have joined the banned Islamist organisation Al Muhajiroun, which promotes Sharia law, and other controversial groups banned under the Terrorism Act. Insiders said he disappeared two years ago.

He is said to have been well-known on the Islamic extremist scene in Britain and may have been stopped or arrested on his way to join the militant Islamist group Al Shabaab in Somalia in the past year.

Lee Rigby was married and had a 2 year old son.
