Big Brother Africa 8 [The Chase]: - Day 1 (Gist + Nominations)

Less than 24 hours into the show, and we already have a chatterbox in the house, Nigeria female representative, Beverly cant seem to stop talking.

She has gone through 21 years of her life in 30mins. From her dad not being able to send her through school, to being molested, her mum being a "Hustler". From her being expelled in primary school to joining the convent, dropping out of college. Terminated a 4months pregnancy, her mum disappearing for 2 years to the extent of her going through ‘undignified’ means to make a living, so much that people thought she had HIV. And she didn't fail to mention this more than five times. Beverly, are these stories not too much for international TV? Nomination list and Video after the cut:

Compared to Beverly's 'autobiography', Hakeem also told his story. How he dropped out of school, went into modeling, went back to school. Then he got someone pregnant; he had no money so he had to drop out again to fend for his baby.

The Rubies housemates are not only about stories, they also know how to have fun. They engaged themselves int the usual 'spin the bottle game'. Which saw Selly kiss Biguesas, She smooched Sulu. Beverly also kissed LK4.. Woohoo! Cant wait to see the end result of these kisses.

Much didn't happen in the diamond house, apart from Elikem and Huddah getting into an argument in the kitchen. The effect of which was Huddah's nomination by majority of the housemates.

Big Brother Africa 8: Full nomination list. >

With six nominations, the first person under the knife was Selly (Ghana), nominated by Beverly (Nigeria), saying that she was lazy and isolated herself when other Housemates were getting acquainted. Also sitting on six nominations was Bassey (Sierre Leone) who was accused of faking a lot of accents and couldn’t be trusted because nobody would know who he really is.

Natasha (Malawi) and Hakeem (Zimbabwe) were also not everyone’s favourite, ranking at three nominations each, the Housemates complained that Natasha seems a bit out of her element while Hakeem talked a lot about himself and never gave others a word in.

Cleo (Zambia) and Biguesas (Angola) each got two nominations as Kokestso (South Africa), Pokello (Zimbabwe), Oneal (Botswana), Beverly (Nigeria), Maria (Namibia) and Sulu (Zambia) all got away with one nomination each.

*Sulu putting the moves on Koketso? >

“You are cute,” these are the words that purred out of, Zambian charmer, Sulu’s lips as he was chatting up South African beauty Koketso.

The young Rubies lass blushed at the remark and responded by saying, “Thank you, I appreciate it”. While the rest of the Housemates were outside working on their first Task, the twosome spent a little quality time together in the kitchen conversing with one another.

As soon as she heard the roaring laughter, chitter chatter and singing going on outside where the rest of the Housemates were, Koketso started to sing along and looked ready to join the rest of the Rubies. Sulu on the other hand seemed more interested in staying in the kitchen and continuing the deep conversation with the young law student than joining the rest of their Housemates.

Is this a case of two fellow Housemates getting to know one another better or could it be that Sulu has already found the girl that he wants to chase?

*The way to a man’s heart: >

In the Diamond House, a few Housemates sat at the kitchen table where Namibia's Dellish boasted about being the best cook.

“When you taste my food, you will want to marry me”, she said to Bolt and Elikem. She believes the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Bolt and Elikem said they expect breakfast to be filled with carbs and ought to be ‘DELLISHious’.

Elikem sang an old nursery rhyme about Bolt and Betty sitting in a tree. Could Elikem be playing cupid? Did he see something between the two to make him believe they are a good match? Or is he just looking out for his boy?

These two seem to be the only guys in the Diamond House chatting up the ladies in the kitchen.

*Housemates get familiar: >

On the morning after the exhilarating Launch, BBA style, our Chasers found themselves in the Ruby and Diamond Houses where they got to know one another a little better.

Plenty was revealed as Beverly shared how her relationship with her ex came to an end, while Maria insisted Melvin should admit he’s been heartbroken. On a lighter note, with today being Hakeem’s birthday, Housemates are curious as to how he’ll celebrate his day.

Amid all the chit-chat, Biggie gave orders for the Chasers’ first task, where five crowns and chairs were placed next to the fireplace in the garden.

The Task: To start a fire with the wood provided while five other housemates wear the crowns, sit down and keep the fire burning. This task lasts as long as Biggie wants.

Hours later, Biggie summons one Housemate into the Diary Room. Meanwhile around the fire, LK4 confesses that he is tired and shouts for Sulu to take his place because he wants to take a shower. One hour remains for the task to end or at least they hope.
