A Nigerian houseboy,
Aminu Musa, 20, on Friday appeared before a Jos Upper Area Court charged with
raping the 12-year-old daughter of his master.
The accused, a
resident of Laranto in Jos, appeared before Mallam Mustapha Hassan, on a
one-count charge of rape.
According to the
police First Information Report (FIR), the accused committed the offence on
Dec. 31, 2012, at about 12 p.m.
The FIR stated that
the father of the girl (name withheld) reported the matter to the Laranto
police station on the same date at about 2.00 p.m.
The police indicated
that the accused took advantage of the absence of his master and lured the girl
into an unoccupied room in the compound and raped her.
“Unable to bear the pains from the act, the
victim raised an alarm that attracted some people to the crime scene.
“The father of the victim later reported
the matter to the Laranto police station, Jos which prompted the arrest of the
accused,’’ the FIR added.
The FIR stated that
the minor was rushed to Kauna Hospital, Jos, for treatment. The FIR added that
the accused person had committed an offence that was contrary to Section 387 of
the Penal Code.
When the FIR was read
to him, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, and applied to the court
for bail.
He claimed that he
was “framed-up by his enemies.” The Prosecuting Police Officer, Mr. Gokwat
Ibrahim, told the court that the police was still investigating the matter and
was waiting for the medical report from the hospital.
Ibrahim applied to
the court for another date to prove the case against the accused “beyond
reasonable doubt.” The trial Judge, Mallam Mustapha Hassan, rejected the bail
application and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison. He adjourned
the case to Feb 1, for continuation.
