For adolescent boys and girls, it was the
school trip of a life time.
But a visit to the local
sex shop didn’t go down too well with their parents.
Pupils at a small private
school in Minneapolis, US, were taken to Smitten Kitten as part of a sex
ed class.
Kids were able to look at
love toys and some even bought condoms.
But Lynn Flod, whose 11 and 13-year-old daughters attended, said parents weren’t informed of the outing.
He said: ‘I just struggled
to think that I wasn’t involved in that. It’s just a major breach of trust.’
But, Starri Hedges,
director of Gaia Democratic School, explained she wanted to provide a safe and
welcoming environment for students to learn about human sexual behavior.
She said: ‘What I saw
happening on our trip, I thought it was beautiful because kids could talk to
these sex educators without any shame, without any fear.’
